  1. The Wire Season 4 man I love this show. end of season 3 is some of the best TV ever.
  2. haven't had the pleasure to listen to any older AKGs but I have a sudden urge to.... good luck sneaking past our three dogs! I'll even leave the doors and windows unlocked
  3. DAC1 USB to replace a Keces 151 which was for some reason picking up radio interference Completely fixed the problem and sounds great.
  4. Well I just replaced my Keces 151 mk2 with a Benchmark DAC1 USB. I didn't even swap the power or USB cables, I used the same ones that came with the Keces so I really just unplugged the 151 and plugged in the DAC1. With the DAC1, there is absolutely no radio noise I was really expecting it to be coming from the PC, but it can be one of two things from my perspective: 1) The PC is actually causing the noise, but somehow the 151 passed it through while the DAC1 did not. 2) The 151 itself was responsible for the noise. Next I want to test if the Keces 151 still makes the radio noise when plugged into a laptop running on batteries.
  5. Hello and Genuine welcome to this forum, and hope you enjoy this site. Sincere Regards

  6. At first I loved the DT990's, but after lots of listening I just find them fatiguing with bloated mid-bass. It sounds like I am hearing some resonance between the 125-250hz range that is tiring out my ears and making male vocals sound muddy. For electronic music they sound amazing to me. Classical sounds somewhat muddy, as does most rock. The highs and lows are fantastic, but somethings missing from the mids. When I pull the phones about 1/2" away from my ear they sound dramatically better, so I think something about the design of the enclosure with my particular ear/head shape that is causing an issue. FWIW the Velour pads do sound better than the leather ones IMO. Helped resolve the issue partly but not entirely. I really will miss the look of the 990 though... I got the carbon fiber ones from Moon Audio and they are IMO the most beautiful pair of phones ever made I have some cool pics to post later.... Thanks!
  7. Hello, I currently have this setup: PC > Keces 151 > WA3+ > DT990 The 151 and WA3+ sound good, but when I turn the volume all the way up on the WA3+ with no music playing, I hear a very feint FM radio interference. The other night I was hearing Kelly Clarkson Most noticeable are drums. I never hear this interference except at full volume, I've never actually heard it during real listening, but I can't help but think its degrading the signal still. It's definitely coming through the USB. If I turn off my PC, turn off or unplug the DAC, the radio noise is gone. If I skip the DAC and go from the PC's mini-stereo out to RCA theres no radio noise, but the overall sound quality is diminished. The USB cable that came with the 151 has a ferrite core at the end, shouldn't that be helping? I also have an Arcam A65 amp to B&W 602 speakers and I can hear the radio noise there too; although, the A65 is noisy at max volume so its much harder to hear above the hiss; Switching inputs on the A65 makes it go away. Oddly enough, this shows me how powerfully resolving the WA3+ amp is, it's able to make a TINY radio interference signal sound crystal clear at max volume with no other hiss being added. Without the DAC its absolutely silent at max vol. It might be moot since I have a DAC1 USB coming to me soon, but what do I do if I still hear this radio noise coming from that? My PC only has USB and mini-jack, so I'd have to get another soundcard to get an SPDIF output. Anybody familiar with this?
  8. I've had my Oppo 83 for about two weeks and it is fantastic. Super fast, not as loud as the PS3, and standard DVDs look damn close to Bluray in quality. I almost prefer DVD simply because they fill the screen instead of being 2.35 letterboxed like BD. I have it going into my Pioneer SC-05 AVR to the Kuro 141FD display... it's Nirvana up in here
  9. Thanks. I've done a bit of reading so far and I'm liking it. Seems more laid back, people don't seem to get up-in-arms just because something negative was said about their favorite brand Just curious, how long have these boards been around?
  10. Hello, First off let me say I'm new around here. I've been reading on Head-fi.org for a while and even registered a week ago, but I've never been able to post on those forums, my posts and PMs dissapear into the ether. So I'm just out of luck there I thought I'd come here and give these forums a try and see if I can actually post here Long time speaker lover, recent addition to the headphone club. The recent addition of a baby to the family has inspired me to change listening habits (no more thumping music when I get home from work, boo!), so going to headphones makes alot of sense. I like it, the hobby feels like new again for me. Currently I have: PC > DAC1 USB > Woo Audio 3+ > Beyerdynamic DT990 I also connect my Arcam A65 > B&W 602 speakers off of the DAC but I do not listen to them nearly as much these days Soon the WA3+ will be replaced by a WA22 and then I will be moving the WA3+ to my office. I'm not totally happy with the DT990 phones so I will be auditioning some Grados soon. Anyways, hope this post works!
