  1. craig asked that i publish the info on the transformers, should you decide to have them made elsewhere... high voltage transformer 2 are needed diameter 3.5 inches height 1.7 inches you can actually go up to 2.5 inches high, and slightly wider full load voltage---- regulation--- Iac--- off load 475 --- 15.04 --- .13 --- 546.4 285 --- 10.53 --- .06 --- 315 75 --- 10.6 --- .06 --- 82.9 filament transformer diameter 3.5 height 1.6 30 --- 13 --- .5 --- 33.9 Center tapped 6.3 --- 14.29 --- 1.5 --- 7.2 6.3 --- 14.29 --- 1.5 --- 7.2 6.3 --- 14.29 --- 4.0 --- 7.2 6.3 --- 14.29 --- 4.0 --- 7.2
  2. Comes with stax connectors. the attenuator piece of metal will be included for those who need it once i make it. Which is after a bunch more of the stax connectors with the 6th pin added, and the knobs.
  3. Bring about 50 lbs of ultra prime grass feed filets with you... You guys get better beef for the most part... We get all the stuff with hormones in it.
  4. Be careful frank, people will pick on you for your chicken scratchings... They picked on me for years till i started doing pdf's of everything... At least your chicken scratchings are far neater than mine were. The bias resistor really does need to be at least 5 meg, and 600 volts direct is a bit high.
  5. Yep, 19 board sets and 19 chassis sets. Actually its 20 of each, but one heatsink got damaged. There is a chassis set for every board set. If the people that bought boards decide not to buy the chassis, then i'm going to have spare chassis sets. I should have 3 more chassis sets ready to ship in the next month. I'm doing it a bit slow because i'm already invested to the tune of $13k and don't really want it to go any higher because i have the kgsshv board set comming up soon. Even with the replacement heatsinks someone is going to have to do mounting bars, and front and back, and possibly modified top and bottom panels. Still its a bunch of work. Also have to come up with an easy to do chassis for the kgsshv.
  6. Tyll will be putting up all the graphs soon. No idea where yet. Could even be my server as its not for profit.
  7. Copyrighted info... will get the permission to share... They are pdf's... As soon as i get permission i will post the links.
  8. TBS - Neighbors From Hell
  9. I got newer graphs from tyll/audeze and at least they don't show the rise to infinity at 5khz. I commented over there too. If you think i'm dumping on these headphones then you clearly do not understand. I will be getting a pair. I will customize the open loop version of the dynafet if necessary to maintain as flat a frequency response as possible. They are definitely better than the he5/6. I want to nail down where these inconsistencies are coming from, it could be the software tyll is using. But we will surely get to the bottom of this. I'll be doing my own testing once i get them. On my own equipment which is different from tyll's. Closest thing to a stax diaphram yet. My krell preamp has a phase button, and absolutely i can tell. Classical music on speakers, it is instantly noticeable, one is clearly right and the other is not. The switches on the hp1's are exactly phase switches.
  10. Sure seems like people over there are mis-interpreting my comments. Lots of people can detect differences in absolute phase. Tyll's graphs clearly show that the absolute phase was 180 degrees out. That is both channels were wired opposite of every other headphone he tested. Not one channel out of phase with the other channel.
  11. I like the Lou Malnates better, there is one of each within about 2 miles of my house. Life is a bitch. Next year maybe one of the all you can eat sushi places. And oodles of sake.
  12. I showed tyll's photo above to one of the women i work with. All she said was poor choice of shoes.
  13. We got to get people to use decent stax jacks. Otherwise it looks kickass.
  14. I have a business partner that was formerly in the optometry business. I (as recently as 2 months ago) tried every single one of the multi-focal contacts. Boy do they suck. In the morning driving, every stoplight turns into 6 pointed stars. Lasic is a very bad idea. After 10 years (especially when you are older) it drifts badly, and is then not correctable. DON'T DO IT.
  15. If you are near-sighted, when you hit about 45 you won't be able to wear contacts anymore. You will see what i mean when you get there. All current solutions stink.
  16. If any of you that have bought and taken delivery of the boards decide that this is a bit much for you then please sell them (at no profit) to someone who desperately wants them, and let me know who you sent them to. Although i would love to end up with a couple of spare chassis (for the SRX) the idea was 19 boards sets, and 19 chassis sets.
  17. L brackets i can make in infinite quantities. 4 of them 6 feet long only weigh about 25 lbs. Its a stock item, not custom, so no minimum. Same thing with the stax jacks and the tops and bottoms.
  18. I'm assuming you mean the profile you are showing. You gonna drill and tap all the holes? Your arm is going to get tired.
  19. Its the flame thrower burned volcanic ash icelandic edition Yes those were srx3 pro's. Probably close to 30 years old. Owned by mypasswordis For those of you that have seen the sony 5400, the finish is absolutely identical to that. And its a very deep anodize. Which means that the screws fit kind of tight the first time. (waiting for a swt61 comment...)
  20. http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/staxprod1.jpg http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/staxprod2.jpg And off to spritzer shortly. If there is a second run of boards, we can certainly change things at that time. No way am i doing another 700 lbs of aluminum.
  21. The heatsinks are 16.2 inches long and 2.95 high. Don't remember the width. Would have loved vertical fin cast heatsinks, but the prices were just stupidly high.
  22. Not true. Jude definitely knows what reks looks like. Last year every time reks came into a room, jude quickly left. You mean Cuddly Dudley... (most of you people outside of chicago will not understand this but it fits reks perfect)
  23. Wait a minute, something is seriously wrong with jude... He was even friendly to me, something i thought would never happen, and now this with reks... On the other hand, now with 20k$ or more rolling in the door per month, maybe jude will lighten up a bit. NO WAY?
  24. I'm going to chime in and say that i really appreciate the tolerance of alternate everything here. As a jew growing up in a 99.9% christian town, i got to learn first hand about religious intolerance, its just as bad as racial intolerance, sexual intolerance etc. In fact working at a university the tolerance of intolerance is absolutely frowned upon. In fact any violations of religious, sexual orientation, marital status, citizenship status, racial status (and two more i can't remember) is cause for dismissal even for tenured faculty. This from a school that 50 years ago would not allow jews to attend. I sure wish things were more tolerant when i was growing up. And i think its great that married couples are actively looking for gay positive churches. This is definitely new. So i'm tired of the filth that rush limbaugh and the morons at fox news spew, and i'm very tired of the people that listen to and bow down and pray to these jackasses. It certainly includes the gays in the military thing. Keep up the good work.
  25. Heat rises. Would probably be a very good idea to make longer umbilical cords and put them next to each other, or on different shelves. That is on my list of things to do. But those things take so long to make... Higher voltage at the same current is higher power. P=V*A its not just a good idea, its the law. BHSE=+/-400 volts T2=+/-500 volts
