  1. Don't think that I didn't shed a tear over this. All it took was one mental image of the carnage with my kids faces superimposed on it, and I broke down. After I came to grips with the tragedy and loss I got pissed, and posted. If I had posted sooner what i was feeling Then I'd probably have been called a baby or a whiner. I don't care what you call me, but "appalled and concerned parent" is more appropriate.

Then why not say that in your first post? There were some of us that were offended by your post and it sounded like an opportunity for you to push your agenda.

Even (many) politicians take a day off from pushing their agenda following a tragedy.

If you posted that you broke down or cried after this happened I swear not a single Head-Caser would have called you a baby. If that is truly what you think, you do not know this community at all.

  2. Eff that, come to the southern part of the state and ride some rocks!

On the pedal front, I'm clearly in the SPD camp.  Simple, cheap, which is nice since I'm not gentle.

Nothing wrong with rocks, but drifting in berms with nice dirt is quite addictive :indra:

WRT to the Shimanos, mine greatly benefited from break in... I can snap in and out of them quite quickly after the muscle memory adjustment/break in.

  3. If it's an issue, I will deal with it.  Any suggestions on pedals?  I used to use spd's set inside platforms.  I still have them so will give them a try.  I've read that some people have stopped using clipless pedals and use platforms.

I use XT Trail pedals (larger platform than the XC). They work very well for me, though there are times when I would have liked flats. Wanted to try Times but were OOS at Jensen.

  4. every meat i've ever eaten that has had a prolonged sous vide bath has been mushy.  i don't like mushy meat.  even pork belly should have spring and texture to it, despite being soft.  i'm really glad that there has been a push back against mushy at restaurants, lately.

I had some mush issues when I first starting sous-viding. IMO one of the things over looked to get good texture is getting a nice tight vacuum seal on the bag.

  5. Agree. Go with the one that has the best game selection.

What I would do is get a Wii U for him this X-Mas. Then maybe wait for the PS4 or whatever in a year or two.

The only sports game I've played with motion controls are the Wii ones. Golf is freaking blast with other people. Especially drinking golf.
