Wow! Very nice!

Thanks for all the good advices. I change the air nozzle to a bigger one so that it has slower air velocity, and set the temperature to a bit higher, and now it goes a lot better.
I still have a long way to go though.
By the way, the smell of the flux is really bad. Do you guys wear a mask or use a filter fan when doing the hot air soldering?

Wow! I tried to solder some SMD resistors today using solder paste and hot air. It’s so difficult! I turned the air down to the minimum already, but as soon as the solder started to melt the resistor got blown away. Is there any good tip for a beginner?

How much smaller are these boards compared to the originals?

Be very careful with the disassembling. The dust cover is extremely fragile.

Went over to a friend’s house and made a pair of field coil loudspeakers over the weekend.
They sound surprisingly nice!

Build a KGST. It won’t cost much more, but it’ll be much better.

Are those DIY headphones?

Received the boards. Thanks.

I don't have good experience with those red resistors. On my DIY T2, I had to take a lot of them out. Your noise could very well come from those.

What was the actual cause of the problem?

I bought a pair of these headphones because I really wanted to see how good they could be and to support this new comer. My experience is pretty much similar to Birgir's. I like the build quality. The clamping force on the head isn't that much, which is a good thing. However, it can be a bit too loose. The headphones almost fell out of my head a few times.
About the sound, they sound very similar to my Omega clone. I might be a bit bias, but my Omega clone has just a bit better bass extension.
Overall, I would say that the phones are very nicely built. The headband can use some improvement. The price, IMO, is a bit pricey putting it in a similar price range as the Stax SR007.

Sent. Thanks!

Don't worry too much about the offset 20-30V voltage. It will not hurt your headphones at all.

Dear Michael,
Please add one more main board for me. So, the new total is 4 main boards. The rest are correct.
Many thanks.

I would like to add for 2 partially assembled GRHVXXX boards, please.

But in reality, there are some people who open their e stat driver, put it back and nothing happen.
Some headphone makers revise e-stat designs from the typical stax type to make it less prone to dust contaminations so a dust free enviroment might not be necessary, but not for stax drivers.
Are you referring to me?
