Yeah, Lake Shore Drive downtown is closed with tons of abandoned cars. Winds were clocked at 70 mph last night. Around me we have 5-6 foot drifts. Wind has settled a lot but still probably 20 mph and as soon as it's shoveled it blows right back. This is worse than back in 79 but not as bad as 67 yet.
Winds may be gusting higher than 40 mph now south of Chicago since my gas grill just took a 15 foot flight down the deck... And it is snowing like a mother.
Went to a place called SmokeJack in Alpharetta, GA tonight for dinner. Had a combo plate of smoked brisket, pulled pork and burnt ends. Accompanied by cheesy grits and fried pickles. A couple of Terrapin beers, and for authenticity a PBR. Food and beer was excellent. Finished with a Classic Cask 17 yr bourbon that I quite liked. Absorbine is a happy boy.
Bought a bottle of this yesterday at Square One, distilled on the premises.
Much higher in botanicals than, say, Bluecoat. Had G&T last night, wasn't thrilled. But a dirty martini now with Dolin Blanc is smooth and tasty.
Survived Cabin Fever. Smoked Porter, RyePA, Coffee Stout and Oatmeal Stout were my favorites. I managed to stay fairly non-drunk. Debbie, on the other hand...
And if you're in St. Louis, visit Schlafly's Bottle Works. Big bar, big souvenir shop, big flavor.
