  1. A slightly used pair of Grado SR-125s. I'm not normally much of a Grado fan, but I was helping out a friend of mine who needed money for a road trip. Supposedly, Grados mesh well with the GLite. I won't be able to confirm this for myself until I've rebuilt my rig.

  2. But my favorite Lego figures were always the pirates. They had the best faces.

When I was a kid, Lego minifigs all had the same face: the eternally happy, somewhat maniacal grin.

My favorite set was 6075, the original castle. For a six year old, it was an epic set. As an adult, I love how it's built primarily out of basic bricks, the way a real castle would be made out of stone. I still have most of the pieces upstairs in a box. Every few years I toy with the idea of trying to rebuild it. ;D

  3. I don't so much have "facial hair" as I have a wire brush that emanates from my face. I started shaving when I was 13, and had Glenn Danzig style sideburns when I was 14. The flip side of this is shaving is an absolute chore for me. I use two electrics and a razor to go from scruffy to clean shaven. When I was younger, I had some interesting arrangements. These days I keep have a minimalist "soul patch" (I loathe that name.) Shaving is bad enough without having to carve fancy shapes.

  4. Aww the cute little pocket scans, perfect for home disco's! lot's of gobo's and colors, separate wheels, good light output. the company who makes those for American dj is GLP (incase you need any help with them later on).

As I'm sure you know, most ADJ-branded gear is utter crap, but the PocketScan is a notable exception. You've touched on most of their strengths, but easy on-site DMX programming is a plus, so is master-slave operation (for the occasions when I don't have a controller.) Also I can fit four of them in a case I can pick up with one hand. Now that I have all four working, I doubt I will lug out my big Geni Shivas or MojoScans anymore. The Shivas are much, much brighter, and have rotating gobos, but are really a two-man job to set up.

another cute tiny little fixture with some power to her is the Chauvet min spot. its a 8lb moving head power by a 14watt rgb focused led. gobo's and full color mixing moving head that can be found on ebay new for $300ish.

my lighting company runs mostly Martin gear though, then again the quality is a bit more important then but the pockets are a gem of the scanner world for small areas. as a programmer i love the dmx channel options you get.

    even a little laser diode...

Martin is great if you have a large budget, a big crew and lots of time to set things up. All things my lighting company lacks. ;D The MiN Spot is cute, but even at 8 lbs I have an aversion to moving heads. They're great for installations and large mobile productions, but not practical for one man operations. Certainly LED fixtures are the way of the future for lighting. I'm eyeing some of the LED color tubes, waiting for them to come down in price a bit.

  5. I'm not exactly a big fan of NiN (or Trent Reznor in general) but I really respect how he's gone about circumventing the major labels. I did download a copy (h/t tkam) and I'm going to listen to it with an open mind. If I like it, I'll cheerfully give him my cash. I wish more artists understood. We, as consumers, are willing to pay for digital downloads of sufficient quality (for me that means "FLAC") that are uncrippled by DRM or other such malarkey.

As I said in another thread, I've purchased FLACs from Music is Here on serveral occasions, and been very happy with their service. It's a shame sites like beatport and juno are so crappy.
