  1. As far as I remember ER-6i lacks bass badly.
  2. Looks like DLIII could be a winner here. Maybe Bifrost would be great, too (would be great to know how they compare). DACMagic might be not resolving enough for LCD2. As I can see it's a bit hard to evaluate the sound of a DAC (especially certain aspects like soundstage) as the differences in how various DACs sound tend to be much smaller than between for example different amps. I already have Schiit stuff (Lyr) and Schiit Bifrost DAC could naturally complete my setup. Bifrost is said to be neutral sounding (which I think is a very good thing for a audio source), but at the same time I am not sure if it has large enough soundstage to improve it in my LCDs Anybody compared Bifrost to DLIII or other DACs (up to $750)? Anyone knows good DAC within this price range that have both good overall quality and large soundstage (esp. width and height as LCDs are deep enough already)
  3. Do you know how these two DACs compare to Schiit Bifrost?
  4. Thanks for recommendation. My budget for a DAC is up to $500 (no USB input needed as I am going to use USB-SPDIF converter). Any other recommendations for a DAC with big (but not artificially expanded) soundstage?
  5. Partly agree...then I would like to avoid extra special effects. If drinking liquor, I would rather stick to pure whiskey, not whiskey +cola. I am not a big fan of HD800, I prefer the sound of LCD, but soundstage could be bigger. Anyway I will start with upgrading my amp tubes and getting better source. Thank you all for help!
  6. Thank you Tyll. With a greater soundstage they would be ideal headphones for me! By the way, is the soundstage of stock LCD-3 bigger than LCD2 rev.2?
  7. That's an idea! But for the time being I'd rather not interfere with the headphones themselves, but work on my source/DAC/tubes in my amp. I've heard some DACs sound bigger in soundstage and the same thing with tubes in amps. I wonder how big the differences can be...
  8. Actually I am not looking for any artificial effects, but out of curiosity I might try a spatializer. Thank you for the links.
  9. I've been listening to them a lot recently, so no chance. Any real help?
  10. True. But I can't use it all the time;)
  11. I don't want artificial soundstage, just a normal one. I was getting bigger soundstage on my closed Audio-Technica W5000 than on LCD2 now. I have an impression that on LCD2 it is a bit compressed. Nice pic:)
  12. The question is what exactly? What DAC? (I already have a JK HiFace MK3 USB/SPDIF converter so no problem with using my laptop as a transport for an external DAC)
  13. Hi, just bought LCD2 (rev.2) and Schiit Lyr (JJ tubes). Great sound and everything!...apart from one thing - I would like the soundstage to be more spacious, to have more air. The thing is especially apparent to me when listening to soundtracks like Dark Knight, Tron, Inception or some 'spacious' electronic music. Is there a way to "increase" the soundstage of the LCD2s? Different tubes for Lyr? Appropriate DAC? (at the moment my source is just an iPod 5G classic, but it was used also as a source for my other headphones (e.g. Audio-Technica W5000) and I didn't notice any problem with the soundstage)
