1. Better late than never... I am getting near to finishing my KGSSHV and I would really appreciate it if anyone can spot anything incorrect before I fire things up. (I still have to put in the op amps and remove the servo jumper on the amp boards). If I could do it again it would be with RN60D resistors. I know - the dissipante case for on board version is a bit unnecessary, but it was never going to be portable .
2. I would also be interested if there is another GB for the carbon. My KGSSHV is near complete, so I'm intersted in a set of carbon boards. Is there a list I can put my name down on for interst in a further GB?
3. Sorry - I read for gauging interest, so I put my name down. I'm not ready to order - perhaps a later group buy. I'll take my name off as the order has been placed already.
4. I'm getting closer to being able to fire up everything. I only have SR5 gold with normal bias - so I either need to build with both normal and pro bias, or I need to buy a pro bias headphone. I don't really want to buy the pro headphone until I know the amp is not going to go up in smoke. Question - any reason I shouldn't test the amp with SR5 and normal bias? Double Bias or Ebay pro phone for testing? I'll post PSU and Amp board pics shortly and would appreciate any "that doesn't look right" comments
5. Thanks. PSU is now finished, 1st amp board getting along nicely. Amp board version 0.63 has the 18v zeners -D5 and D6 below - marked with an M - I assume that they are not populated for the C4686A, just for the 05n100m? There is nothing in the schematic suggesting they are left out for the C4686A On the PCB: Top right, marked B, between the 1K and 1M is a link when using the C4686A - left open using the 01N100D Mosfet? Thanks
6. sorry - I think this should be the correct image
7. <imgsrc="http://i.imgur.com/vRrgpVj.png?1" title="source: imgur.com" /> Need some help - shoud this be left open or should there be a link ? I am building the 450v version, nearly finished. What does 100ms mean on the board?
8. I now have practically all the bits and a half populated power supply board. I have a question about Q9,10, 13 and 14 in the power supply. In the BOM I have, this is a 2N3904, and the bom I have gives a mouser part number 863-2N3904G, but this was not available, so I ordered a 2N4401G instead. This has similar technical data, except max voltage collector emitter (3904=0.3V, 4401=0.75v), collector dc current (3904=0.2A, 4401=0.6A, and probably most importantly, hfe min (3904=60, 4401=20). As there is a large variation in hfe, am I OK, or will it be mucking up the biasing to use the 4401? (I have probably already answered my own question, as I have decided not to risk it, and to order 3904). I also have a question about the caps on the +-15v supplies (C11, 12, 13,14)– in the BOM these are 4700uF 25v and 100uF 50V – on the PCB of 3300uF. I am assuming that it won’t make much difference; I am just wondering if there is reason why the PCB states 3300uF (other than those parts were available) Finally, the BOM lists 2 x 3900pF, with no circuit reference, and no voltage, and states they are “optional”. Where do they do and what should the voltage rating be? There are quite a lot of errors in the BoM I have, for example, some quantities are incorrect (which I failed to spot before ordering), and the Mouser number for the fast switching diodes is the uninsulated (incorrect) package. I’m just sending these back in exchange for insulated ones. I’ll set out an errata list and where I got the BoM from Any comments will be much appreciated! PS – I have some 4% silver solder, but am using standard 37%PB from Balver. I was thinking of using the silber only on the connections. Should I steer clear of using it on the boards?
9. Can anyone share PEEK m3 screws, washers and nuts? If not, then is there any interest if I order (probably 100) and share?
10. Does anyone have CAD files of the front panel of the Pesante Dissipante 3U 400 with stax socket etc? It would save me a lot of time drawing the front if I had one. A CAD file of the whole Pesante Dissipante 3U 400 would be even better
