  1. As usual with the Interwebs, I think a lot of the negativity is getting a bit overblown. I now have 2 hours 43 minutes talk time on mine without a single issue. The only places I visit that have not had excellent service are the warehouse grocery place down the street from my house and our 35th Floor cafeteria space (right by the sandwiches, works fine everywhere else, I assume bread absorbs cell phone magic rays). I have five bars pretty much everywhere I go. I have seen Edge service once, in the aforementioned bread barrier zone in the cafeteria.

I am getting 3G speeds here that are typically hundreds of Kbps faster than Colin's Incredible is getting in the same place. I assume that is Verizon vs. AT&T but I assumed that would be the opposite based upon everyone's complaints about AT&T in NYC.

I cannot get the signal to drop by touching the lines on the antenna. I have no spots, dots or urine stains on my screen.

I can see the screen clearly outside which seems to be rare in the modern cellphone and the screen is much sharper than the competitors I have seen.

My previous phones were terrible Blackberries so maybe I am just so used to crap that anything nice excites me.

  2. Went to the giant beer store that Colin pointed out to me less than .5 mile from my house.

Got (4) Four Packs (BD Tokio, BD Storm, Weyerbacher Quad, Three Philosophers) and a Six Pack of DFH 60 Min IPA.

Also managed to take my first iPhone Video but forgot to turn it on its side so it is skinny and poorly shot. This is one of the three singles rows in the store.

And the actual rows also from the iPhone.

  3. I have picked up a couple of cheap cases I thought I would share in case anyone is shopping. Both came from Best Buy.

    iFrogz

Two piece hard case with a headphone jack access point that is too small and the sleep button is too recessed to easily shut the phone down. Seems durable enough.

Rocketfish Gel Case. Once again headphone jack access is too small and the sleep button is hard to actuate. The case is not very form fitting and is obviously fairly low quality.

  4. Jeff,

Those overdrive results are truly awful, I'd chuck the thing out the window.

It would kind of suck to continue paying $67 a month for something shattered on someone's head 23 floors beneath my window. When 4G finally gets here I should be good.

  5. Much softer than the Crumplers with a significantly better strap. I have no complaints as it carries an amazing amount of camera gear for a smaller bag. The inside is nicer than my old Crumpler as well with better fittings.

I got it for the camera case aspect more than the iPad carrying aspect so I am not sure what you might be looking for in a bag.

  6. I am lucky enough to have Adorama and B&H a couple of subway stops away but I would use them regardless. The price is typically much better than B&M and their stock is dramatically better than most places when I need a large selection.

I use Best Buy when the prices are similar as I am Reward Zone Black there so it usually ends up in my favor but I actually bought the last DSLR from Amazon for a price quite a bit cheaper than anyone else had. Their prices seem to fluctuate quite a bit so you just need good timing. If you buy at Best Buy just make sure you do not buy the memory, etc. there as it is insanely overpriced compared to B&H.

Now I don't understand the whole Nikon thing, but to each his own. :P

  7. So I guess that is how they are going to force people to either buy Macs or buy Mobile Me. They just lock up all your info somewhere until you see the error of your ways and buy the add on service.

I guess on your Hackintosh you do not use Calendar/Contacts etc.?
