I'm running on Ubuntu 8.04.1 if that's what you meant?

This damn thing is giving me soo much trouble. It should be straight forward and trouble free. I just can't figure out why it keeps telling me the directory is not empty. As you guys can see, it is indeed empty. I also don't get why its keeps messing with the "/bin/ls" directory. I tried to look into the "install" file but there is no way I can edit or see its contents.

Its for my Final Year Engineering Thesis project.

How do I do a 'll' and what is that?

@Jason, you had a look at their documentation? Yeah, it sucks, no help there. I tried emailing them, so far no reply. @grawk, yup, done steps 1 and 2. When I did this: root@sanjeev-desktop:/opt/BlueCat# /tmp/install It means I'm already in the "/opt/BlueCat" directory and I'm trying to execute the "install" file located in "/tmp" right? That's what their instructions told me to do... What does "bash -x" do? Thanks for trying to help me figure this out guys. I really appreciate the help.

BlueCat Installation 1. Copy /mnt/cdrom/BlueCat_i386 and all its subdirectories to, for example, /tmp. 2. Move "install" from /tmp/BlueCat_i386 to /tmp. 3. cd /opt/BlueCat. 4. Execute /tmp/install.

That's the problem, /bin/ls, I didn't call it, the installation seems to be calling it and then it tells me the directory is not empty... Give me a few minutes and I'll get the installation instructions...

I'm a total newbie to this so any help you guys can give me would be great! Right, I ran into a problem when trying to install BlueCat Linux. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.1. My problem is this: root@sanjeev-desktop:/tmp# cd /opt/BlueCat root@sanjeev-desktop:/opt/BlueCat# /tmp/install Installation directory must be empty install: terminating root@sanjeev-desktop:/opt/BlueCat# /bin/ls: cannot access *: No such file or directory Could you guys tell me why I'm getting this error and how I can resolve it please? I've already set all the relevant folder permissions to rwx and I'm using sudo passwrd. If you guys want, I can post everything I typed in the terminal. :confused_face: Thanks a bunch guys!
