@Dan, I dunno, just had this weird "What If" kinda thought going through my mind, what if he was using a current production Grado driver and tweaked it a little to sound like the PS1? I mean, we would never know unless we spend $4k to get those and then get one of the old ones to compare side by side... I know, I know, its silly and preposterous... but like I said... I was just thinking out aloud.... what if... I have weird thoughts running through my mind sometimes...

I wonder though, these PS1s that he is selling, are they old stock sitting around or is he manufacturing/hand crafting them/whatever them in very small batches... or what? @MrSlacker, why don't you just resolder it for her? Its a 10 minute job at most. Saves lotsa time and money. If the cable is the one that is giving the problem, I doubt any new headphone is gonna survive the abuse. This kinda cable problem normally happens when the owner abuses their headphones. I personally know of such people. They toss their headphones around and when the cable decides to give up on them, they come running back to me and ask me to fix it for them. If you're new to DIY, read the other forum's DIY section; the sticky on how to make DIY cables. Then you can fix both her malfunctioning headphones.

Hmmm... that sounds worrisome. So, IF it should happen, getting an mk2 cable as replacement would be fine? It fits right in there without requiring any tweaks? Just a standard solder job to get it up and running?

Don't worry about it. I don't mind. I've already got the info that I needed from this thread (thanks guys). My W11jpns will be leaving me. L3000 it is for me. About the amp choices, yeah I think grawk is right. I also think the gilmore lite would be a good match. I'd also have to agree with him that the W11jpn tends to sound good no matter where its plugged in. Also, FWIW, IME the W11jpns were more responsive to a better source as compared to a better amp.

Sorry, I forgot to add the MK1. What I wanted to ask was: Is the O1 that much more fragile than the O2 MK1 ? My bad, sorry about that.
