  1. One thing I noticed is that it took a few days for my ears to adjust to the customs. I had some minor pain at first, but after that the fit was perfect. I don't know if those who needed refits sent them back right away after a day or two, but that's something to think about. I guess the audiologist and how he takes the impressions plays a big part in the equation too.

If I remember correctly I waited for about a week the first round and it ended up being a couple of weeks before I sent them out this time. After the first refit it took a few days but I did find the fit got better but I think much of it had to do with my figuring out how to get the right ear inserted properly. I'm really hoping I won't have to send them back again.

  2. does the cable behave well for around the ear wear with spectacles? cant remember where i read on these boards but someone complained about the cable being too noisy as it brushed against the stem of the spectacles. after an ipod touch and a jh13/16 i dont think i will have the finances to afford an after market cable just to deal with the micro phonics. so is it really that bad?

I find them a bit noisy, squeaking against the arms of my glasses, which is why I've been considering a Null Audio cable as I've not had any issues with the one on my Triple.Fi's.

  3. I think you misunderstood -- grawk was saying that it's really hard to make the VTG's sound bad. (I think.) But also that he's not familiar with the Xiang Sheng, especially when combined with the VTG's. I, however, am, but don't remember trying the VTG's on them. But on the other hand, I do also agree with him that I don't ever remember hearing them sound bad ("uninvolving").

I just got a pair of VTG's today that I traded my HF-2's for. It was kind of an unexpected trade but when the offer came up I remembered that they seemed to be fairly well regarded by some here who I've come to feel have similar tastes in headphones. I've been listening to them for a couple of hours and I'm pleasantly surprised at how good they are, they're certainly going to make the pain of the 13Pro's gone for another refit a little easier to take.

  4. yes! can't wait to chop off that piece of shit viablue connector :)

no communication what so ever from Null Audio, both about a custom length (pre-sale) and complaining that it didn't have the connector I specifically ordered (post-sale)...

Sorry to hear the communication sucks, I've heard mixed reviews about that aspect of the company. The cable I have was bought second hand with my Triple.Fi's so I've never had to deal with them.

Did you have any problems with the pins fitting? I tried my Null Audio cable on the 13Pro's but the pins were far too loose to make a good connection and I didn't want to chance bending them and ruining their use on the Triple.Fi's which I still use for back up and lawn work. Also, how flexible is the Null? I ask because mine's an older prototype and is a bit stiff and unwieldy, it's almost like the braid is a bit too tight. What I do like about my Null cable though is the plastic tubes around the memory wire, the JH Audio stock cable squeaks quite a bit when it rubs against my glasses but I've never had that problem with the Null on my Triple.Fi's which is why I'm kind of interested in trying the Null on the 13's.
