Mostly the latter, but it did make me cringe when he described the 7/11 sandwich, much like it does when a flight attendant asks me if I want to purchase a 'headset' for $2.

I liked it, Carl, but then, I am a simple man for whom simple metaphors will suffice.

Not bad, quite oversimplifying IMO, but gets the point across.
