July 25, 200817 yr So Google has a new Wikipedia competitor, called KNOL. Chief difference? Settings preventing an article from being modified by anyone other than the original author. LOL
July 25, 200817 yr Another difference, and a deal-breaker for me, is lack of hyper-links within articles.
July 25, 200817 yr Author What I'm trying to figure out is if 2 different people can have 2 different Knols with the same title. I'm going to poke around on it more after work I cant retrieve my article in I.E., as if its not published, but it seems to show up in Firefox. If you cant see the LOL link, it should work later, as there appears to be a delay of sorts.
July 25, 200817 yr I doubt it's going to be as authoritative as wikipedia because it doesn't allow for collaborative work. But it's a great complementary service because it doesn't allow of collaborative work and so eliminates the need for objectivity, however vague that might be on wiki. Besides catering more directly to the exhibitionistic self-portrayal needs in all of us, the fact that authors can make money from ads should be another strong incentive.
