I just uploaded few pics into the image gallery here and noticed "Gallery Image" button while replying to a thread. I clicked on the button, but I get a new window with the following message and I can't get at any images. Am I doing something wrong? Fatal Gallery2 Error: Cannot get the Gallery2 ID for this file. Here's the error from G2: Error (ERROR_CONFIGURATION_REQUIRED) in modules/core/classes/GalleryEmbed.class at line 827 (GalleryCoreApi::error) in /var/www/html/forums/g2image/g2image.php at line 453 (GalleryEmbed::getImageBlock) in /var/www/html/forums/g2image/g2image.php at line 494 in /var/www/html/forums/g2image/g2image.php at line 104 in /var/www/html/…

My eyes don't like the way the forums are listed on the main page. There are numbers for the number of threads and the number of posts in each forum, but there's nothing to line them up with the forums... maybe horizontal delimiters would help?

Show own posts appears to be broken beyond page 1. I tried it by clicking my own profile and nate's, and they don't appear to be working, neither. Firefox 2.0.0.11 on Windows XP SP2+.

  4. Perhaps this will be an interesting idea.. is it possible to create a up/down rating system to downrate trolls and uprate people who contribute useful information? It could be as simple as another number called "karma" in addition to postcount that's displayed.. users could perhaps choose to give or take this away. I know digg / slashdot uses this, and some forums also have this.. though I cant think of a high traffic site that does this, this forum has a similar system.. http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/index.php? (a forum for a robotics competition) This way trolls and such could easily be buried.. Is this sane? possible? am I god's punishment for a bad worl…

I'd like to see the quick reply have all the functions currently available in the regular reply. Not a big deal to simply hit preview and do what one needs to do but it would be a bit more convenient I guess.

I recommend that people should be able to change their own avatar. I can't seem to be able to do that. I don't want to be stuck with this stupid llama forever.

I'm still trying to think through ways to keep this forum different from another place we know. Right now, the level of discourse here is much higher than at that other place, in part because we are confirmed hobbyists, without a large influx of newbies stumbling over us. That is likely to eventually change, though, and I think we should try and find ways to keep forums focussed on sound, particularly the high end. So, as a start, how about a forum titled "What should I buy?" or "Is this the right gear for me?" or something along those lines. This could serve as a focal point for all of the questions of this nature, be it headphones, amp, source, or whatever. This might h…

Since traffic is low enough here, I usually use "Show Unread Posts Since Last Visit" to view posts. But sometimes, if someone responds quickly enough, it doesn't show up in the list. It'd be nice if the time of the last visit was somehow reset to the time of one's last post once your session times out. I know it could affect some people adversely (I.E. if someone does a lot of lurking, and very little posting, then that list would basically never time out), but I don't think it would be that inconvenient, would it? Or how about: what is the timeout period? Let's say it's 5 minutes. If the time of the last visit could be reset to the time of the last visit minus 5 minutes …

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I like how if you hover the mouse over the title of a post, it lets you read the first few lines in the post, so you can get a feel if you want to open the post or not. Pete

How about a video forum? I'm sure a lot of our members are interested in the emerging HDTV, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, Satellite, even iPod/PDA video, etc. technologies - both screens/projectors and sources, converters, and composition (for our aspiring and pro auteurs) etc. I like movies as much as I like music, but they are enjoyed in a different way. I'd like to get my browsing time's worth, if I am going to be on Head-Fi and Headcase... too many forums
