Holy Crap! The New Stax Omega Looks fierce! (Stax SR-009)
Jon L replied to Jon L's topic in Headphones
It's definitely the most resolved, distortion-free, cleanest, most extended, fastest set of 'phones I've tried Not saying it's better, but I do enjoy my custom high-sensitivity loudspeakers driven by EML 2A3 SET, single-ended distortion and all.. -
That's some good exposure for night shots. Which flash was used (modifier?). Assume couldn't bounce the flash without walls..

No Samsung NX200 around?

Ouch, that's gotta hurt. I did think the modified Fostexes gave the LCD-2/3's a good fight.. IMG_6291 by drjlo2, on Flickr

These things are a work of art. Trying out a new flash diffusor in really dark indoor hotel room, but the bright aluminum is a challenge. IMG_6293 by drjlo2, on Flickr IMG_6230 by drjlo2, on Flickr

Well, now that i've actually listened to the SR-009, I hope all you SR-009 owners develop toe fungus (insert jealous green eyes here). I'm sure Spritzer-made BHSE did help a little bit. IMG_6293 by drjlo2, on Flickr IMG_6280 by drjlo2, on Flickr -
Love'em. Make sure the charger charges each battery individually also.

Experimenting with off-camera flash bracket. Flash high left with diffusor cap and ETTL cord. Hand-held, manual focus. IMG_5837 by drjlo1, on Flickr

Oh, why, oh why would Nikon use a sensor even smaller than Micro 4/3 (16 mm vs. 21.6mm)?? I sure hope Canon does not follow Nikon's footsteps for their mirrorless..

I'm confused by that article sine the photo of the camera shows Lens that's labelled 5.2-26mm 1:2.0-5.9, but the text of article keeps talking about a "24mm f/2" lens.. At any rate, the sensor size is not any larger than S95, and I do think the age of Sony NEX is really blooming now with the NEX 5n and 7, with the nice APS-C sensor.

Looks like clean scans. What/who was used to scan?

Great choice, at a great price also. Honestly, I doubt anyone could tell the difference in IQ between the Tokina and Canon/Nikon 100-105mm options in real life shots.

That's what I used to think, but the more macro's I shot, the more magnification and more working distance i wanted, more the better. I used to walk around with the Sigma 70 on crop body, thinking two birds with one stone, macro and walkaround, but 70 mm was just too long for indoor walk-round, and the working distance was not enough for macro when shooting live objects. Then one realizes macro is really about lighting! I now use Canon 100 L IS macro, but I still wish for a little more working distance at 1:1 for those nervous insects, but the IS does come in handy for when tripods are not handy and wish the Sigma 70mm had IS as well.. Edit: just took this Macro today hand-held 100 mm F8 1/60 with IS on. IMG_5663 by drjlo1, on Flickr

New Sony NEX-5n looks REALLY tempting! Truth be told, my S95 has not seen much action lately, just for non "photography" snap-shots really.. http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2011/09/05/the-sony-nex-5n-digital-camera-review-a-monster-full-of-features/

I didn't realize Sony 50mm F/1.8 OSS E-mount NEX Lens was shipping already, but at $299 with autofocus, seems like a great alternative to all the manual lens/adapter ways.. Some of the sample images on the web look promising. http://www.adorama.com/ISO5018E.html

I currently have the Canon 100 L Macro but would have no qualms about still recommending Sigma 70 Macro, even over Canon. That Sigma 70 is something else for Macro but also very useful length on crop for all kinds of uses. Before buying, however, I would google around to make sure your particular camera body has no issues with the Sigma. My 550d simply did not work in live view with Sigma, and live view is actually quite useful for Macro. I use extension tubes, too, and they are great. But you get very little control over size of objects in the frame as there is a very small range of distance where the extension tube/lens can focus. So you can end up with larger-than-you-wanted object sizes in the frame, cutting off sides, etc. Autofocus also works VERY slowly/poorly, basically unuseable with extension tubes, and here is where a true macro lens has a large advantage if using AF. I do use MF most of the time, but there are times AF comes in handly in Macro, especially if the subject is moving. Then there's the whole greater-than 1:1 Macro world with extension tubes on true macro lenses, reversed lenses, etc. Fun stuff but now tripods become absolutely mandatory and lighting more crucial.

Wow, I would be VERY scared to carry this $1800 lens with that protruding, unprotected front element. And the hood starts to get in the frame past half the zoom, so one needs to take it off, and protective filters won't fit, either.
