because the amp is not hyped. All I remember was seeing a MOT thread in Head-Fi several months back. It looks like it's been released, but I can't seem to find anything about it. So I take it no one has heard this anything anywhere?
-
no way, the writing style is too different, and the real tuberoller writes like ray samuels.I think it's Billy.
-
i guess i am the only person here who has never liked the RS-1s . has anyone tried them with a balanced amp?yep. i wish i owned the pair i'm currently listening to.
-
lots of headfiers have a serious sour grapes issue, thats why we all get to see idiots trolling threads everyday or so. the zhaolu and storm craze were also great examples of that.once you get beyond a Glite and an HD580, there is only a 10 percent refinement that can be reached... and the rest of the big money is wasteful. The truth is that there are levels well beyond the mid-fi stuff that most head-fiers havn't seen. No, there is not a 5 percent difference between a K701 and an L3000, the ATH is a far better headphone. Same thing with amps, just because the gilmore light is class A doesnt' mean it sounds the same as a Zana Deux or dynamight.
Most of what i hear is placebo due to the money i've thrown at it. I wish this was the case, but in reality, if you can't tell the difference between a low-fi rig and a good rig you got nothing to blame but your ears. your friends bose speakers sound nothing like a hi-fi rig.
-
folks here are going to disagree with you.The L3000 is an embarassment to the AT name.

instead of making himself a tolerable guest by trying to squash some of the beef between him and singlepower/sacd lover, he chose to post reks' pm and stirred shit up. remember he started the amp war and all the bashings, not mikhail nor earl.I seriously doubt Ray would have showed up at a meet he had been clearly told he was (unwelcomed and) not invited. To say he wasn?t prevented from attending is a bit disingenuous with all due respect. Yet I think you should have let the man attend and if he did something (overtly) offensive, you could have politely ask him to quit it or leave. For whatever reason Ray and Head-Fi seem like a packaged item.

headroom and moon audio. or maybe you can ask yikes...

wow. homegrown sells 22awg teflon coated silver wire for $2.38/ft when you buy 100+ ft (like moon audio).I'm getting the silver wiring from Vampire, and it's $5 a foot. I know they're just getting it from China for probably <50 cents a foot, but I can't be bothered with that. There's about 15 feet in wiring a KGSS. Then I'm just charging twice the cost of the wire for the upgrade. Considering interconnects are sold for hundreds, or even thousands, I don't think that's so bad.
There are four Black Gates costing $108 a piece plus shipping. Then they have to be mounted in the box and wired instead of just soldered to the PCB. This is a really small margin on that upgrade, so small that I'd rather not even do it. It's well below what the industry standard would be for such an option.

burn-in in general is snake oil to me.

hear, hear!My personal favourite is that if a particular piece of gear is not good for a certain type of music (techno, rock), then it can still be good for another (chamber music, vocals). If a headphone (or amp or source or speakers) are only good for a certain type of music, then they are not good.
I also agree with a lot of those previously mentioned. Tube amps rock!

cardas 4x24 headphone cable. the same thing they use for sennheiser and mini to rca cables. great stuff once you remove the outer jacket.

nate bought some sennheiser grillz from me. quick payment, excellent communication and a friendly head-caser. highly recommended.

i will pretend that nothing is going on and continue to walk to the corner store.Ok, let's suppose that you're walking to the local bar/corner store/whatever and you have to cut through a small public park to get there. While walking through the park, you see some guy on the ground being molested by a group of attractive females. What do you do? Whip out your fancy cellphone and take pictures/movies of it? Offer to take the guy's place? Whip out your willy and masturbate? What do you do??!!

its great to know that ken law is stepping up the DAC game, can't wait until i meet him in person once i get back to HK.
-
does it have a volume control?
-
interesting, can you describe the sound that umm...will not offend people? like that watered down k701-ish sound?I think you've hit upon something here. To me it seems like manufacturers are trying to make 'phones which won't offend people instead of trying to building something that'll make people go "holy crap that's awesome!" It's like they're playing it safe instead of making something like the PS-1 or K1000 which have a seriously polarizing love it or hate it effect. Instead of going for the homerun, they're hitting grounders for singles.

i don't think its gonna topple the zhaolu or the battery dac tho...it costs 1k and its empty inside, IT CAN'T BE GOOD. plus the cheaper a chinese product, the better it sounds.
