  1. Do you mean those amp are class B ? How can you tell they are class B (curious to learn) BTW sorry for the lack of attention.
  2. Saw another thing today, the heedamp: Once again lots of things hu... (the E is an op-amp). i think someone did a schematic for this one too. I have to ask a few things about it: -first why is there a capacitor in the feedback ? -What is the point of using a transistor as emitter follower after an op-amp ? it doesn't add gain, is it to biais it as a class A amp ? -Brings me to my other point, replacing the 100 ohm resistor with something more efficient like jfet would bring anything ?
  3. My 0.2c. I think that a well designed amp according to KG doesn't bring any color or sound signature (Gs-X, GS-1 and Gilmore lite are all based on Dynalo, they all sound quit neutral). A capacitor coupled amp will have a capacitor sound, it seems that it is bad to kevin. For instance, RSA HR-2 and graham slee solo are both capacitor coupled, they are "bad design" and have a "warm sound signature". What I said is only my personnal opinion. I'm sure Kevin Gilmore will tell what he thinks here.
  4. I knew it would upset you, it brakes two of your rule high open loop gain and caps in the signal path. Someone sold is GS-1 to keep this little guy, I thought it could be a good amp, definitly not worth building one ? Was looking at a picture of the HR-2, the heatsinked chip are BJT transistors ?
  5. I don't know how to edit my previous message, sorry for the double post. The correct output stage was this (didn't draw the npn well): Everything colored pink is ground, it seems that the op-amp is powered with V- grounded. the LM78** (or another chip) regulates the +24VDC, it is protected with a diode. Shouldn't it be heatsinked ? Q1 separates the power from the output stage and the op-amp power. The two mysterious parts are circled in red. Tell me if I say total crap.
  6. Since I saw a pic of the board, I was wondering if it is worth it to "clone" as a DIY project the amp. I found two very useful pics of the inside. Based on it, I tried to fill in the parts: Is it a AC coupled amp ? The two closest cap from the potentiometer are input caps and i'm wondering if the two electrolytic caps close to the 1W resistors are output caps. Also, I don't know the name of the componant below the left 1W resistor. There are two of them. I think the output stage is push-pull, it probably looks like this: here is what I got so far. What do you think ? PS: I don't know if it is the right section and if it is allowed on this forum, mods fell free to move or delete this post.
  7. I knew the TLE2426 was acting as a ray splitter but I didn't totally understood the first power supply. I do know.
  8. I think I got it. Thanks everyone it was really kind to answer me.
  9. The rail splitter is the TLE2426. Is the output "SG" ?
  10. The mosfet power is not symetrical, V- is ground. Am I wrong about this ? Last project I did was stupidly populating a printed PCB (dynalo). I learnt lots about how the amp works but nothing about layout.
  11. Sorry to have called it a modified SDS labs, if it is unfair, i'll simply call it MMM . That was precisely what I din't understand, the V- on the schematic is ground, isn't it ? I read a lot the MMM page again and again but I didn't find everything I was looking to understand. I want to try a project ona breadboard, no printed PCB.
  12. The link to the SDS is because the MMM is a modified SDS labs amp, I think it always helps to have two point of views. The mofset have to be powered with symetrical power, right ? Thanks for the answers !
  13. Sorry for that. I'm asking if the mosfets are powered the same as the op-amp like here. I understood how the BB works.
  14. Since here is for stupid questions, I hope you don't mind I ask some. - Is the input voltage symetrical ? is it
  15. I know who Kevin Gilmore is ! He designed almost all headamp products (I don't know for AE-2 and pico though), the dynahi and lots of others I don't know. I am trying to make a dynalo these days, it seems to be a cool amp and I like the way he designed it (no capacitors).
  16. Wow. I think your point of vue is clear now. I didn't know he lied about it, he just does not tell what is inside basically it is not a lie (but it is not very fair). By the way how do you know his designs are dangerous ? We don't know what they are because it is the whole idea of Ray. Oh and thanks for answering me .
  17. Why so mean ? Why do a lot of people like his amps if they are "pieces of crap" ? Do we are all fool ? I actually don't like much RSA's amp because they are overpriced for what is inside but for many they "sound great". PS: I'm trying to understnad things, not insulting anyone.
