  1. I currently have 2 old FW HDDs that need to be upgraded in terms of connectivity and capacity.  I use one for media and one for backup.  I don't think I need a big RAID setup, but I do want SSD.  JBOD should be fine for the likes of me, right?

EDIT: just realized SSD is not really feasible in the size I need/want.  Duh.

  2. So I just got my home theater setup and I 'm still trying to figure out how the fuck to use it.  One thing I'd like to do is be able to use wireless bluetooth headphones for when the Little Monkey is sleeping.  But, to my knowledge, my AVR does not have a BT transmitter built in.

What's the best way for me to accomplish this goal?

  3. Happy to hear that, forbigger. smile.png It only takes a day or two to do the upgrade. Most of the time will be spent shipping the unit back and forth.

(BTW - anyone know why I don't get notifications even though I'm following this topic? I had the email me setting checked in my notification options.)

    I'll take a look.

  4. The rMBP work just got me replaced a dying 6-year old iMac so I just had a pretty similar upgrade. The speed improvements are really really nice and I think you'll be really happy with the 27". That being said, the new iMac screen is IMO the big upgrade you'll notice over the 6 and 7 year old models we were using. It's night and day difference vs what we had before. Enjoy!

I don't know if you are a fan of touch-pads, Monkey, but if you are the touch gestures in OSX are quite handy. I'd recommend the wireless touchpad for your iMac for the touch gestures alone. The ability to quickly jump from window to window using mission control (or whatever they call it these days) on its own is worth the price of admission.

Word.  I almost got the rMBP,  but was convinced I would break it.

  5. I am astounded by Apple's syncing that continues to have the problem of duplicating entries in Calendar.  Either I'm a moron (quite possible) or Apple still doesn't get it.  I think both of those possibilities are true, actually.

Related to the above, Apple also needs to include a checkbox in any new appointment that will allow you the option to override or delete any conflicting appointment.  I'd call it "DOMINATE."

  6. My guess is like Grado, they want dealers to rigidly stick to minimum advertised price. This is probably easier to do through a smaller dealer network opposed to Amazon, etc.

Agree.  Also probably an easier way to do this legally.  Despite recent developments, if they don't offer some sort of premium service to justify their agreements on price, then arguably they're going to have antitrust problems.
