i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
it is amazing how fast electrons travel the globe http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/kgsshvamp11mini.jpg board is 7.26 x 4.84 inch http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/kgsshvps8g-mini.jpg board is 7.3 x 7.35 inch updated power supply schematic http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/kgsshvps8g.pdf you can use ksa1156 in place of 2sa1486 if you put in the 270v zeners

gsx-mk2 will do 80 volts peak to peak balanced with a balanced input only dynahi will do 120 volts peak to peak balanced gsx is about 8 watts class A per balanced channel dynahi is about 30 watts class A per balanced channel dynahi drives speakers if you want it to. gsx-mk2 will NOT drive HE6 to ear bleeding levels dynahi WILL

if you already have the old boards and a way to do the off board heatsinks, then you should do it, you should have very little trouble getting the parts there. Otherwise the new boards are going to be a fair amount easier to build.

both are tied to ground at the bottom of the 6k resistor. thermal hard to see.

made the holes .040 inch, they were .030 inch enough?

The black area is where there is no groundplane. So if there is going to be an arc, it has to go thru the board to the other side. The thickness of the board is good for a few kilovolts. I'm sure its not necessary at 30v, but its trivial to do. I will increase the size of the cap holes on the amp board. As far as the voltage references, the linear tech part is a fair amount more expensive than the ti part. You use one or the other, not both.

i will start on an on board power supply version this weekend.

not unless you have some anti-tubes that work with protons. seriously why would you want to do something like this? because other people are stupidly adding tubes as the front end which add extra noise and require extra power supplies and tricky methods necessary to dc couple to the output of the tubes etc... If that is what you want, there are plenty of things out there already.

as close as I can come with available parts. The that340 really is as good or better for noise than the k389/j109. only difference is lower input impedance, which is already low due to supersymmetry anyway.

that is the point of this new board. all the sand is mouser available. but in general the semiconductor companys are all getting together to make sure decent audio is a thing of the past. What good are the new lateral mosfets, and the monster bipolar transistors if you don't have the parts for the front end.

I finally have decided to declare failure on sourcing jfets, so this should be happening soon. http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/dynahibal7.jpg uses that340 input bipolar chip needs serious checking mje15034/mje15035 are probably a better sounding set of outputs

the extra resistor and zener are because of blubliss. He insisted on using this supply to power his ES2 and it was not really designed for lower voltages and much higher current. This mod makes the outputs share the current better.

Well I never had an issue with this either. But some of the new caps come with the coating Pre cracked

fixed that one. if you find more let me know.

looks like a nice tester. But it can't test the high voltage stuff. I will buy one anyway.

make sure you have a pot connected, or the inputs shorted to ground.
