sine the balenced supra is only 3K.. this could give ideas... or maybe a balenced PPX?

i am not biased against ray. this is what happened: i loved the b52, i really did, on his music. I put on Mahler and later Dvorak and it was screechingly bad.... like that mpx slam i just heard when we got the wrong set of tubes in... but this was the HD600 set up... and the tubes that he thought were best for it. the gilmore light because it sinned.... made things colder, not warmer, and gave me no soundstage.

Either the RSA B52 or the Gilmore light (sorry justin).

that.. that wasn't a very good review... i think it hurt zhaolu owners more than it helped them. in either case, he didn't actually come out and say that it's better than X product or whatever.

it's more of the culture of Headcase to suggest that people on Head-fi think that that zhoalu's are better than an esoteric stack, than anyone who owns it or writes about it. i've heard the esotieric before, and i know it's the best analogue i've ever heard (despite Tyll's wadia and the Moth-U dac) I also know it sounds better than the other little chinese dacs and good enough to make me wait till i save up enough for something big, like a transporter/dac-3, or a possible Eddie current dac.

don't start flaming until you hear it. no, 2K is not that much for a dac, but we need to confirm that it's better than the usual lavry/benchmark/transporter deal to take it seriously... that and i need to start saving. i'm waiting for reviews... and the CI audio dac claims to be in that league also, but no real review of that one yet.

Most AT haeadphones don't sound good. in fact, in every chance i've hand to listen to one i've always thought their sound sig wasn't for me or my music..... yet the L3000 is very different, it actually sounds good.

once you get beyond a Glite and an HD580, there is only a 10 percent refinement that can be reached... and the rest of the big money is wasteful. The truth is that there are levels well beyond the mid-fi stuff that most head-fiers havn't seen. No, there is not a 5 percent difference between a K701 and an L3000, the ATH is a far better headphone. Same thing with amps, just because the gilmore light is class A doesnt' mean it sounds the same as a Zana Deux or dynamight. Most of what i hear is placebo due to the money i've thrown at it. I wish this was the case, but in reality, if you can't tell the difference between a low-fi rig and a good rig you got nothing to blame but your ears. your friends bose speakers sound nothing like a hi-fi rig.

you know what! you headcasers love to talk about how rsa gets away with stuff, or that head-fi is nothing put overblown positive news..... do you really think this would get censored on head-fi? are you afraid of being told off by some rsa fan on the internet? please, then bring it up on head-fi, put a link to this thead or something.. see what happens. if it's locked or disappears, then i've been proven wrong. but i need to be proven wrong before i believe this huffing and puffing. if RSA get's away with anything, it's only because those in the know about the problems like to keep their information, for the most part, private or behind the scenes.
