  1. Good to hear. I'd love to hear what other manufacturers that sell amps in the 2-4K range use lower quality selectors and sockets? There is more to part quality than the transformers. And yes I do great things over there Not really known for my know when to stop talking skills though, ask my wife /facepalm
  2. Because I wasn't aware until I started asking and people hit my PM box with their experiences? Non issue now that I've ruled the 2A3 tube out.
  3. My main concern on the EC gear is past assembly levels and part quality. Seem to need repair fairly often due to low part quality. I love eating to and from shipping as much as the next guy but would rather see a better part used in the first place My other concern is purrin pretty much described the sound of a 2A3 as something not inline with where I would go from the B22.
  4. That makes sense. Guessing very few people have gotten to hear both the EC and DNA 2A3s?
  5. So far no "suggestions" but also no rejections either. Everything I toss up he's said we can do. But I don't have internal shots to see where it could fit best
  6. Necro res for some DIY advice. I'm talking to Craig about getting a 2A3 but with pre-amp functionality. Which road would be best to get there? I don't know how custom the panels are or if they're all cut and silkscreen already so... I'm thinking grounding input 3 on the switch and using its RCA pair for the pre-out. Or if the panels are made to order change the input to a 2 position switch and either tie the RCA pair to the speaker or headphone tap. Not sure if they are different. Thoughts?

The weight thing only lasted a day or two for me. Swapping out the speaker cable for a headphone one dropped the weight too. Forget where they ran a myth thing, but those neck bands are pure illusion, no neck length change which makes sense since the spine isn't known for it ability to do rubber man thing. Personally still loving my LCD-2/B22 combo. Actually got the MkII of the DA220 this week expecting minor changed if any and was surprised that despite only changing the digital filter it sounds very different. Not necessarily better, but different for sure.

LCD-2 is definitely my all time favourite rock can. Just wish they would tighten up their build process. My first pair had visible damage and driver damage, second pair is less obvious but got two left ear pads and the screw that keeps the ear from going 360 degrees isn't set so... its spins Sankar has been great about dealing with the problems but really shouldn't be any especially on the replacement pair.
  9. True on all counts. Wife vetoed the tubes though I personally decided to just stand pat with the b22. No complaints, so no reason to move.

I asked about getting another cable terminated with two 3 pin XLR and the price was $90. At purchase, not sure.
  11. Huh, with the LCD-2 I sit at 9 o'clock for 70dB. My source is pretty hit though. It specs at 1.4V but given I could only use the first 4 steps on my KGSS... its likely higher. Curious what I would measure at 12. Anyway gain was more curiosity. If its something huge, I can drop it to get more swing. Which is admittedly not much of an issue for pot. So used to having a DACT and needing the gain to match my listening preference to make it usable. Good to know about the BB, guess I be keeping her
  12. Good news is I only have one can so... its not a huge issue for me. Anything I should avoid hitting with loctite? Thanks guys, nice to know I'm "done" once I get some feet on it for now at least.
  13. Can you confirm the gain and whether this one has the short the amp puff of smoke feature when removing/inserting trs slowly?
  14. That looks about right. Things were a whee loose when I got it but nothing a screwdriver and pliers didn't fix. Plan on using some loctite so I don't have to have another go at it The other site used a link back to that photo for the sale. When it was finished did it go out with black screws? The gent who made the suggestion was talking sight unseen. Was bugging him about it picking up Blackberry cell noise.
  15. Rack mount case, 2ch, centre mount trs, speakers posts, 2 se inputs, black velvet, gain of 5 I think.
