  1. I like your style. clink-clink, beer foaming, gu-u-u-u-lp
  2. For now, but not if you stay in the game for the long term. You want more drop for more efficiency powering in the drops and climbing. Is that a 49?
  3. Looks like we have similar body types. When I first saw pics of your Roubaix a while ago I didn't want to say anything, but thought too bad you didn't get the Tarmac. Is that a -17° or a track stem? As I regained flexibility I found my Roubaix's plus-size head tube too long, as I could only get 5cm drop. With my Pegoretti, which I will be selling soon, I had to ditch the King headset for a Campy to get 6.5cm drop. On my CAAD with -10° stem I have 7cm. I replaced the 30mm cone spacer with an 8mm Cane Creek headset top. Also have a 2.5m Slam-Your-Stem top, but don't think I'll be needing it. My next frame which I will be getting soon, has a 1cm shorter HT than the Peg.
  4. You bring a dirty bike into a shop? Isn't that like a major faux pas?
  5. Here's a shot of the CAAD 10. I'm diggin' it, man. IMG_0433 by pigmode, on Flickr
  6. No, too pricey for me that one. Will probably go with the regular ("full custom"), with an outside chance on a JKS which is again more than I'd like to spend. I'll have to say that Dave is the only builder I'd pay that much for a frame.
  7. ^ We do what we can right? Its all good. Wanted to correct an error with my above post. My Kirk Frameworks deposit is delivered.
  8. Saw that. Decided to send my deposit in a month or so, but for a JKS or his standard custom. Since I've decided to postpone my Haleakala ride this year, maybe I could do it on a Kirk, which would be cool.
  9. ^ Perfect group to tighten up your game with!
  10. Recovery is coming along, but not complete. No big ring hill repeats yet.
  11. Heading towards one of the white houses in the middle of the pic. laukahiTOP 4-13 by pigmode, on Flickr Quarter of the way up. laukahiDH4-13 by pigmode, on Flickr There. laukahi 4-13 by pigmode, on Flickr
  12. Great builder and humble. He even keeps his shop comparatively humble, and he maintains very high standards. Got to get one.
  13. If you point the bar end to or close to the rear axle, then you can have the "flat ramp" from the hood to the handlebars. Not sure but I think the flat ramp moves the lever away from the drops, compared to the set up in my pic. The Deda shallow *seems* to put the levers closer to the bars overall, than my Deda Zero100.
  14. Raffy, The more the "dip" is eliminated, the farther down the end of the bar points. Here's my Deda 215 Shallow, with is the 26mm version of the (31.8mm) Newton Shallow. Its mounted moderately low and feels like it will be pretty comfortable for my riding style. Many want a flat hood to bar transition these days, I have that set up on my Pegoretti and on the (unfinished) CAAD 10. Thanks for bringing it up, I really should get a Newton for my Pegoretti, which will make upshifting on sprints easier with the Campy shifters where my hand needs to be jammed up to the bottom of the hoods. 15. These stencils are the metallic silver undercoat of the candy apple red finish, with multiple coats of clear.
  16. I like this build with the 90mm stem.
  17. There are adaptors such as from Wheels Manufacturing and Praxis that fit GXP or Shimano threaded BB's in the BB30 standard. For GXP you'll need the (2) bearings, and adaptor cups from Wheels Mfg. Circlips also if you don't have them--not sure if you need bearing covers or not. Very simple to install. For Shimano there is the Praxis conversion BB, which is what I'm trying on the CAAD 10. A Compact crankset will give you climbing gears without having to go to a 32t cassette, with its long cage derailleur and wider gaps between gears. Wide gaps are the worst. Compact crank first always, if given the chance.
  18. Slowly getting back into it starting yesterdays rides of 32mi. Probably rode too hard, but did a short 6:30am ride this mornings as well. Still not out of the tunnel but it looks like 6:15am starts are possibly now--happy days!
  19. You can put a *lot* of miles on that. Cool
  20. Envy. Few frame builders have the experience Dave has. Not sure for how many seasons, but he has built the custom frames for the 7-11 team.
  21. Boo, Sounds to me like you will be dipping into Dave's stash of discontinued original logo decals, the ones with the curving line and circles? Spoke to him a few weeks ago and I know he has a limited supply, so paint color matching would be determined by that to a certain extent. L-u-c-k-e-e-e!
  22. Although still on the injured list, I'm also looking for new offroad clipless pedals. I'll probably just order the M520's for a start.
