  1. I don't know if it matters to you...but I think I'd want a amp top plate where I can easily access all the trim pots and test points if I were to build another one

I also just noticed now, but is there a reason you put the front end tubes in the front? does it simplify the attenuator wiring?

  2. For the 4 tubes, is there really benefit to go unregulated PS or even regulated PS? Because I wanted to do two-box design and buckle the heater wire with others to use a single connector. I suspect AC 60hz noise will affect others. Heater for el34 needs 6.3V/1.5A each. So I will aim for about 10A for the PS. Also, the heaters are sitting at -450V, so the PS should be floated?

I wanted to go tiny and simple. For single regulator, I could only find MIC29712WT, which is only 7.5A max.

I use ac heaters for everything without problems. maybe if it was in the input stage, but this isn't a megatron/t2

  3. That's what I was going for.  [emoji4]

Good news on the 4070 front, I scored a SR-303 so I can bring them back to their proper state.  Also made a new baffle so I can easily swap in the new drivers.  It does help that quite a few Lambdas have met their end here...

any plans for the leftover 507 drivers?

  4. That's exactly it, they are too flat and the foam won't last.

The ep007 opening is smaller and I think that contributes to a bit of boominess in the bass, which is why I end up sticking with the 009 pads. Much more even presentation. Too bad those things cost an arm and a leg...

Maybe I'll try the sr omega pads on the 007 one of these days

  5. The USB Gen 3 input is notorious for being bright.  Couple of my friends used to have that problem until they switch to coaxial input.

yeah I've always thought the USB input sounded bad so I put a wavelink hs in front. it scales really well but the quality of the USB makes me wonder if the bnc input requires some fine-tuning
