.... the salesman spin is just that. Mikhail actually does build the amps and you are well aware of that from our private conversations. Do you think you can just hire anyone off the street to do the ES-1 and SDS-XLR builds? Conversely, you told me, Ray told you, he farms his builds out. Then you added Ray's son told you Ray does build them. So who is the builder and who is the salesman and who to believe in that household? 
You also told me about all the build issues with the hornet and how Ray sold them anyway nothing full well there were issues .... does the intermittant or dead output jacks ring a bell. Remember your angst, that you described to me, because your brother bought a hornet and was having chronic problems with the hornet; at your recommendation. In fact, you mentioned this yourself here on this very board.
If Ray builds them why didnt he fix them. I see two possibilities .... he didnt build them or he didnt know how to fix them. Neither of those possibilities jive with whats represented on head-fi. Ray's wonderful build quality? Ray's engineering knowledge? Actually there is a third possibility .... could be he didnt care enough about his prosprective buyers to deal with the concers. I really would rather not think that but the more I see this scenario progress the more I wonder whats the real truth. So .... excuse me if I dont see RSA as the cutting edge in headphone design, implementation or value.
Like I said before .... no more spin and no more lies. I am sick of the lies. By the way Angel Teres = tuberoller according to you. So the Sarjan situation was orchestrated by tuberoller and the express purpose was to attack and undermine Singlepower. Is there any disputing that?
How does that speak to the whole amps wars issue? Where were all the attacks coming from? There never was any war .... just underhanded and one sided business tactics at tuberollers direction. Was Ray innocent .... I hope so?
Mikhail is to busy working 14 hours a day and to classy an individual to get caught up in this nonsense. Ray would do his self well to follow Mikhail's example.

If Ray never thought to compete with Mikhail then why has he so adamantly tried to put him out of business? Why did he go to Srajan of 6Moons badmouthing Mikhail and his designs?
FUnny you should say that..first off to the fullest of my actual knowledge Ray did not go to Sarjan..most likely someone named out of the three people would be my guess who did..but I actually have no proof of any. But I do know Sarjan note that was made around the time of the singlepower pic post I made (regretfully, yes I said I was sorry to Mikhail's face without lie). I got a p.m. threw head-fi from Angel Teres saying that Sarjan made a public post and had a link...which I then phoned Ray and told him. I sent him the p.m. and after he read the link on the phone he said "omg Belly..." of course he followed up with a few ha ha's..but that's the best of Ray going anywhere to Sarjan.
Also May I note here that I dont actually know Sarjan but from what I heard (non head-fi people) is if you lie to him or somehow make him feel like you screwed him...well that's the last review youll get in the industry sort to say..if that's not true or it is..I dont know. but what I do know Mikhail told Sarjan not to open the amp under review because of a patent or something..well if you seen the pics and read that thread (which stated the patent issue heavily truth or lie) then what would you of done...then again that's basiclly Mikhail shooting himself in the foot for the public note from Sarjan about his review recall (if you can call it that). either way Mikhail has a new review and the award was never taken away so I guess its all good there now...plus of course Mikhail made out like a bandit after the pic post, in which I am glad and not surprised a great salesman would do.
now if you know anything then please post away in the ruh duh post..please back up your statements about someone who is not on the boards..
I've heard numerous stories from various members about Ray's tirades about Mikhail. If Ray isn't trying to compete with Mikahail then why does he seem to care so much about him and his company?

Hey I didn't drive out to Ohio to start shit with any of you guys, I wanted to end the crap and either know it looks a lot like I like to piss people off I don't..
like I said that is the closest these two guys came..that's about it.
As far as competing products I think the only thing all the amp makers is sell an amp, but each maker offers different stuff and features no one else does..
Thin about the makers and what they offer..
Ray has a buy once and leave it amp..only one way to buy it.
Mikhail has a completely custom built amp, you want this and that in your product he is your man.
Xin sort of the same concept SP has but only with portable.
HR has crossfeed and dacs with module upgrades and such.
Jan Meier has....not sure what he has..lol
Eddie Current has low priced thrown together amps that sound great.
Headamp has solid states and electro's with a KG design but a great build (instead of someone dealing with the likes of people like trevnetwork..they go to him).
even the new guy Blackie offers not only an amp but a art peice.
sure they all sell amps but each guys amps with there features are so different...
well one can buy one of everything and live happily...hmm I wish I could (no funds).

First I do not think this w/e it is is aimed at the under 25 crowd..
Second Single power is a custom make amp company...Ray Might (might pending on what you want) do a small mod to an amp...but nothing more then that. Ray will never even think to compete with Mikhail. Ray and Mikhail are two different types of people running two totally different companies marketed towards two totally different people. Ray and Mikhail Should understand this..
Ray does not try to Compete against others, others try to compete against him (I.E. sr-71,Raptor). With the exception of the Hornet every product RSA has out to buy is not to compete but only to be used and enjoyed..
Mikhail basically is the same, the closest he came to Ray was SACD posting a thread about 5687 slam mins after everyone heard about the Raptors 5687 tube's...either Mikhail Copied the idea and had SACD be the shill on head-fi...or it was just the timing of both going out on headfi using the 5687 was almost dead on...take it either way you want to on it..I personally have better things to do then even think of who did what when bullshit.
Like I said before about Ray always working on something somehow, I think the last I checked he had 6-7 different products being worked on...most likely 5 won't make the light of Day. Remember the A-10?ca-2?rs-1a?...those three came close but never sold..hell even the CA-2 has a review out there (by a real audio critic on a real site)...but still nothing...no one can buy it..never sold.

Ray is getting smart with his market segments and placement of products to each and every market. no more days of hr2/xp-7 sharing markets..

what is your second setup right now, billy?
well the preamp changes between the gsx or the ca2, but the power amp is the Adcom gfa545,dynaudio 122 speakers,old mit IC's,cardas speaker cable,and either using it as a computer audio rig or with an old naka cdp I got for free.
like I said its the old stuff I didnt sell yet...
and as far as headphone amps go I can easily switch out any of the "extra" ones I have laying around..

I asked Mikhail at the Chicago Meet why he put the amp in such a big case..

that's a better answer then I could of thought of..But its true..it holds to the SP way, as in Give the customer anything they want..(regardless if its a sonic purpose).
I never heard one (hopefully one day) so I am not saying its not the best, for the cost and the place in the SP line I believe fully it could/should.
Not sure if I can call a top ten but the top two amps that should share one spot is the HR2/RAptor (my hr2..only mine..modded).
the HR (balanced max I think?) big momma..either know I can not stand the HR sound (its just me, regardless of my personal taste I respect its sound)..
The rkv amp I heard should be on there but sharing the same spot with the Wheatfield..(tuberoller's model..with grados)
then again now that I think about it..the maddest should be listed with headphones also...
Like for me the rs-1 natural born amp is the sr-71...(just the rite combo to me, I explained it many times on headfi..so search why)

The Apollo I tried was fully burned in..its the store policy when they get a new cdp in stock they leave it on for a week strait..
they had the apollo for awhile when I tried it.

The Apollo beats the G08 by a wide margine, at least. With the Apollo, you don't notice yourself listening for differences or nit picking/praising the unit, but rather hopelessly drawn into the music instantly.
I listened to the Apollo recently at a audio shop here for about 30mins of dedicated Sensaphonic>sr-71 listening.
Its a nice player but it aint no ground breaker, and comparing to my G08 I live with Its sounded harsh (digital sounding man..),cheap (Heard better for cheaper..much cheaper),short (no real depth),shady (the bass had absolutely no depiction..everything was a one note bass), and to quick (the song just flew by..no time to relax and enjoy)...
Of course I DID NOT GO INTO THE DEMO COMPARING THE G08...after all anybody with a fucking brain would NOT COMPARE a $4,400 top line (maybe "rated" is a better word) unit against something in the $1k that just hit the sales floor..let alone anyone with a fucking brain to listen to one of the units at a noisy meet and dare throw a rock at the king (sort of say..yes there is much better of cdp's out there..).
I thought the Apollo was indeed a fun CD player and to me it is ReGa's best yet by far, hell I thought of buying one in the future...enjoy it for what it is..I budget cd player that should give you many of moons of happy happy listening...but don't throw rocks at the king (again sort of say)..I know your excited and all..
Now I am thinking of the Apollo in a second setup, but I would rather wait to see what the used price in some time goes to..knowing Rega it shouldn't hold much value (then again what does)...
and to your "ATLEast with the apollo.." wording...
I actually found myself more nit picking the unit cause of its harshness and when I got my G08 in all I wanted to do was get more music (cd's)...In fact thats the only major difference I remember when I first got mine in...in other words I wanted more music cause maybe of the addicting way the g08 had?..not sure.

I just received 2 more sets of rca's and a set of xlr's but I am still waiting for the other set of xlr's to be finished...[

also since you were looking at pricey book shelves look at the Dynaudio speical 25...they are books and go into the 35hz range...thats more then a full sound.
You have a decent distance between you and the speakers, I would personly would go floorstanders. I have dyna's but their are so many out there..

Ok background:I demo Dynaudio 72se last year sometime in my room and fall in love then order a set. by the time the set came in I completely came up with a new idea for a room..in which time of the same week the Speakers came in I remodeled my room with thicker ceiling tiles,carpet,cables,cartridges,bpt thingy,etc
Well since I always like to get new gear in I have this problem with actually having the time to sit down and take the patience to get the placement rite and the acoustics.
when everything was said and done I had a completely different room and did the most moronic thing I could think of..I completely switched the listening position and speakers around to the other side. this lead me into a 4-5 month stand off with them. I was fighting the acoustics,power,furnace noise (55-60 db of crap facing my ears instead of my back),the window on the side of the "new genius speaker location" was rite next to my POND outside (with three waterfalls working 24/7),also the window faces the side of the house with the A/C thingy is,the power on this side was not even funny and It was impossible to run a dedicated A/C line on that side,I could still go on about how this one side of the room was cursed no matter what I did it sounded like crap! the side was so bad I had three different type of room acoustics applied and demo..if something did pro it had a huge con of that..every room treatment could not make this side "come to life" without to many 2nd and 3rd reflections and the Bass nodes on this side were impossible to altar. I finally gave up after I had the side of the room almost ceiling to floor in absorb panels..I kept one out of 4 set of AURALEX treatment I had in at once...the side was so Dead Even the Dead couldn't hear it..yuck
Well Fast forward to autumn and winter of last year...
Year autumn I get out of the speaker and Vinyl life and go nuts on headphones..not sure why but I do. anyway So I sold my Speaker amps (they were Dodd mono block 50watt el34) and bought a old cheap Adcom amp just to get by with until this spring when I knew I would get back into it...
well that Day of me getting back into it came yesterday but it was not by my choice,..mostly cause I bought new amps (the AES/Cary sixpacs balanced) and had a gsx preamp..
So yesterday I decided to move everything back to the original side and not stop until I had the perfect placement and acoustic treatment. It only took a good 9 hours but what I got now is soooooo amazing..omg
I will post pics later on and more info. the treatment I have up now is just the old Auralex panels I cut in half and doubled on the corners to control the bass into the middle instead of sticking out to the back walls. the first reflections are dealt with by a fake rose plant on one side and a small thick rug on the other. I know not the best looking but I went from 0 to 2000 mph in one day..amazingly I did. I moved the speakers about 60 times then toed them in 5 each way after that..I settled for the best overall performance with a tap of live end to the front. the bass and the front wall needs to be dealt with this I admit. I need to get some corner traps and I have a 10X10 piece of extra carpet from the install last year I am going to cut and hang on the front wall, I only want some diffuse going on without a lot of absorbing (absorb equals death). after the 9 hours of setup time I went to work but left early cause I had it..I had heaven and I needed to listen. I got home like 10pm and listened till 5am at very low volumes (omg the sound at low volumes is to die for). I probably still toe the speakers sightly towards me but...I will be giving up sound stage...i will wait to mess with them..in fact I am not touching nothing (regarding speaker placement) for awhile.
It the type of sound that you'll hear everything you can imagine just great, not perfect but overall its great and it has a really wide left to right so you get a lot of pan'ing effects easily, but the speakers are toed in and you get a 6-7 inch center location with of course anything in between the speakers and the center location. a lot of sounds hitting you for the floor or up high. Tomorrow I will listen for about 6 hours then re set up my vinyl rig...and cut that piece of carpet I have (as soon as I find it).
Its freaky really how it all just snapped together and became heaven, all this work and next thing you know you got it. I was sitting there yesterday after work looking at the speaker rig listening like I was watching an action movie...i didn't know where what would come next you know?
It is sooo good that after I shut everything down at 5am I listened to headphones for another 2 hours...thats how good it was..OMG
I been up for 25 hours strait..I got to sleep but I cant...must listen one more time....yes no...I can sleep when I die..I need to listen its sooooo amazing people..sorry but I finally am happy after all the moving around and this and that.
Btw I cant really comment on what a single peice of gear sounds like cause of the new placement..i will be able to switch out single stuff later..not now I dont wanna touch anything.
yeah I mean later I set up my vinyl Rig, Vinyl + Speakers equals omg omg heaven.

The best working and weirdest to me has to be
Sony discman d4 > Ray Samuel's audio sr-71 > Grado ps-1
Not sure how but its one of the best setups as far as the rite matched pieces go..
the ps-1 does benefit from the big badder amp and source yet it can easily be tamed and driven perfectly and effortlessly threw this rig...and after spending the money on the cans one may not be able to afford the source of high price..lol
also the sr-71 does the Grado rs-1 the best I heard..usually with the d4 disc man..
very musical setup with loads of detail and balanced sound that even Betty Crocker could not bake! the rs-1 has to be well controlled or it gets wacky and wacky quick..any other amp I heard is either to much or to little but the SR-71 has the perfect balance for the rs-1. the source can take advantage of the less picky grado source sound so you can easily walk out with a old school discman and have some great synergy!
NAD542 > Grado RA-1 > Grado sr-325 (silver) (bowls)
being the forward edge of the nad or just their house sound which ever it may be this is the source on a budget. Grado $300 block of wood actually (and rarely to my ears) holds its weight in gold as far as the pricing of itself goes in this setup also. the ra-1 lack of pure sound (or somewhat true quality) works with and for the silver 325's with their bowls on. no screaming highs from them with bowl pads and all the comfort one flat can only dream..
put the silver 325 with bowls in with a great amp and good luck cause the highs will make you bleed, but not here..balanced!
Computer usb > HR bithead > Grado sr125 with flats..
HR sound is not my personal taste but that's not to say anything is wrong with the Headroom sound.. the dac in the cheap and under rated bit head does a great low budget price with a mid-fi sound. the SR125's are one of Grados best bang for the buck can..pair these up and believe or not they match! its the setup of not the best sound but its enjoying and we have you nailed to your computer chair for quite awhile...lol
Meridian g08 > Headamp GSX > Sensaphonics 2x-s
the most perfect headphone to me and my ears is a son of a bitch on amps..and that is putting it nicely! the sensas will show you anything wrong with any amp or source if you have and give it enough time to do it. the GSX's sharp highs and the Sensas heavy lows work well they balance each other out nicely. there is a layer of Fatigue their (even more then then the bit head and sr125 setup) bit the clarity,depth,detail,imaging, and sound stage is dead on!
The Sensa's mesh perfectly with the hr2 also, tighter image,more musical,less fatigue,blacker background are some of the better points here.. at times it can get mushy,to warm/bassy also...
Meridian g08 > hr2 > Grado ps-1..
actually it not as much as the source but the hr2 and the ps-1 were made together from birth (actually that's true on one side). no other amp can give the ps-1 the support needed to achieve their best...some say the b52 (prototype) can do better..have not heard that one yet myself.

not sure what Wheatfield but it was tube rollers. the pairing of amp and can here is just soooo tubey lush you can dive in!..
