The CEC DA53 is $650+ in the US. I'll take $600 new in Japan.
Oh look, Fujiya Avic has it for $500. What a deal. *makes a trip to Fujiya Avic*
Holy shit, is that a used DA53 for $400?

I'm curious what can or cans Sennheiser is going to unveil at CES in a week a week and a half.
I see what you did there.
-
Happy birthday Ken!

Wow, I just realized that I didn't even read the copper/silver part properly.
-
Usually you use 1R/1L/2GND. Some people like to connect the shielding (if it's there) to one end of the ground as well. I didn't pay too much attention in the electricity part of physics so I can't tell you anything about it, but I seem to recall reading that it makes the shielding actually shield, as opposed to just sitting there.

You're kidding, right, there's no fracken way the Pico has the room for RCAs.
I got it confused with the AE-2.
-
I've considered getting a Pico and using that (ludicrous as it sounds), but I'd hate to use a 1/8" to RCA cable.
Doesn't the Pico have RCA out on the back?

I wonder at times whether the engineers at Stax really do any work at all. So according to those Japanese "Stax nuts", the A/mk2 is only a facelift after nine years of waiting?! You'd expect them to have come up with at least one brand new flagship already!
Well according to one source, the new lambskin pads sound better. \

Thin skin etc.

that is some list Dusty
^^^^^^^^^^What he said.
Even though I don't agree with some of the picks, stuff like Android Lust is like, woah yeah Shikhee needs more love yes please.

Thanks for the suggestion. The tiles are somewhat irregular so it would be difficult to get a slab to lay on them and not rock. I just ordered 8 hockey pucks. Not surprisingly, it's impossible to find them in Santa Barbara, CA.
Did you try Sports Authority in Camino Real Marketplace? Actually you're right, I wouldn't expect to find hockey anything here.

Speaking of grunting and humming, I was really freaked out the first time I heard something like that on a piano recording. I had to pause it to make sure I wasn't hearing things.

In the words of guzziguy, "they only sound good with Rudistors"
The S-Logic thing is really fun though, but not in that "I'd like to live with these" way.

why praise either when there's such better prog rock out there? such as:
Magma
Univers Zero
Art Bears
Van der Graaf Generator
King Crimson
Gong
Henry Cow
After Dinner
Amon D??l II
Popol Vuh
Can
Frank Zappa
Camel
Slapp Happy
Harvester
Tr?d, Gr?s och Stenar
+ most other krautrock / zeuhl / r.i.o.
The ones I do know on there are definitely awesome, but Yes isn't too bad, especially with Bruford. Anyway, I guess I shouldn't have been such an assfacehole regarding Rush.
-
Yeah, the BSE apparently resists a lot, including pens, coins, all kinds of hard things.
-
-
How can you put the wankfest that is Rush in the same sentence as Yes?
I just remembered how flaccid I get when I listen to Red Hot Chili Peppers.
-
Kylie Minogue is good stuff for sure, but I don't think she makes her music?
And I thought Captain Beefheart were pretty token?
-
Amazon shipped me Roxy Music - Avalon, Scheherazade/Song of the Nightingale, and Night on Bald Mountain+etc, but says Pierrot Lunaire will only ship in January.

I'm with you on Mahler. I keep trying, but I can't seem to pay attention for more than a few minutes in.
I just listened to his first symphony today and thought the same thing.
-
After I saw his post on the 1200 hour burn-in on the Marshmallows, I figured he was someone to ignore completely.
-
I've only heard his Well Tempered Clavier, but that was... weird, to say the least. It was like, woah, am I hearing right? It's probably best to listen to some samples from various sections, because he's well known for certain things. Who knows, this set might give you something to experience for a long time to come.

It's human nature in the age of entitlement. Everyone wants personal attention and to feel like their needs are being attended to. I suspect at least half the people posting those questions are well aware of the search function, but they want personal attention, and I suspect they also want to participate. Since they have nothing yet to offer due to inexperience, that's their only foot in the door. Should they consider the fact that they're cluttering up the forum, especially if they see three more threads with their identical question on the first page? Yes, but most people don't bother to think how their actions affect others in their daily lives. Why would they stop to consider such now? That said, I do think some of the responsibility for how bad it's gotten falls on members who know better and allow it. A simple "please look at other threads first before asking" rather than "Have you ever heard of search?" would go a long way. I don't think it's wrong to kitten-slap a noob for posting things that are messing up a forum. I also think mods could start saying that, and start combining or deleting threads if it's clear there's five 600 vs 650 threads going on at the same time yet again. A few weeks of that, and I bet it would stop. Of course, I could be wrong.
Did you get that from Tyll? Well even if you didn't, I really agree with it. The problem is that search isn't always perfect and it's hard to find "exactly" what you want, and as ph0rk said a wiki would be a great way to solve that problem.
