  1. I will be closing the group buy this weekend and firming everything up with the shop on Monday. Thereafter communication regarding the chassis buy will be via pm/email given the small numbers.

If anyone else not involved in the group buy is interested in boards or traffos (I know Marc has already voiced some interest), let me know.

I think that spritzer should expose this asshat over there, and he should be perma banned here. We have proof of his unsavory behavior, so why are we waiting to do what should be done?

May the hammer of Birgir strike with great vengeance!

That actually was done a little earlier today, but in usual Head-Fi manner, they covered it all up by deleting the posts and likely warning those that accused this unscrupulous twit of being paid to shill. Quite frankly, if Head-Fi actually took serious steps in that regard, they'd have to shut the site down.

  3. No, there are no posted drawings. Also the heatsinks are made from a custom die and are extruded in 12ft lengths with a minimum order of 4 lengths.

If you want to build your own, get four heatsinks at just over 16" in length (3u) and then cut and machine to rest to line up. Shouldn't be difficult if you have the equipment and know-how.

So it starts like this (but the front and back plates have a lip built in that lines up with the heatsinks):

From what I understand Focal got very angry about this and there has been a sudden shift from "best evah" to "maybe not" in attitude about them.  Might also just be the regular FOTM thing.

Despite the Katz sample and the new sample being nearly the same, I suspect most purchasers will be of the view that they have the "Tyll version", especially when it comes time to sell.

  5. Monochrome green or amber if I remember correctly (the PET, that is. maybe the apple was colour?). We had one in my grade school library in the late 70s or early 80s - looked cool, but no one knew what to do with it. The look always reminds me of the movie "War Games".

  6. Yes, not for the faint of heart as these are north American prices with everything made to order locally. And at nearly the same cost as Kevin's chassis run from 2010 I think we are doing pretty good price wise.

Will probably post something at some point later on regarding transformers.

  7. Probably a bit confusing, but the cost is set out in the April 23rd post quoted above. Total cost for the chassis with brackets is $1550 USD, plus shipping. The chassis set weighs about 30lbs. I was waiting for one other downpayment before confirming the order with the shop, so let me know in the next day or so.

  8. Thought it might make sense to make a new thread on this so as not to pollute the T2 thread. So this would be limited to the chassis, any potential board run, and any other potential group buys for traffos or transistors (if numbers warrant).  I am hoping to move forward by the end of the week. Please keep in mind, if you are in and make your deposit, you are committed and will not back out unless you find someone to take your spot (so if you are not well established, then paypal gift only). Please express interest here or by PM.

I have also included a link to the results of the first group buy:

Uh oh, I see GeorgeP is crazy enough to want to set up another T2 run... are there going to be some CCS modifications to the board? :D

Yeah, starting to have second thoughts as a couple interested people have already gone silent... but I am an optimist...

And if there are any changes, pleeeeease keep the tube and transistor spacing the same - that said, I am good with the status quo.

  10. That would be the next step, so yes, but only after the chassis part is set in motion.

Regarding the chassis, I met with my shop guy today (I love the small shops, most wont give me the time of day) to go over final costs for the chassis sets. I was able to get nearly the same pricing as two years ago so that is a plus. The first group buy was $1525 for the 2-box chassis set, and this one will be $1550. Time frame should be under 2 months ( will depend mainly on the extruders.

Those who already expressed interest, I will be contacting you in the next day or so to arrange a down payment. Anyone else interested, please let me know by the end of the week.

To recap, the cost will be $1550 for the complete chassis set anodized black with laser etching (there are some pictures in this thread from the earlier group buy), which includes mounting brackets. This does not include jacks, boards, screws, volume knob or feet. I can have some matching aluminum cone feet made (waiting on pricing) and they can do a matching volume knob for $30 with the shaft that extends about 2 inches into the chassis. For those joining the group buy, I will need a $200 deposit, then balance plus shipping due when I have everything ready to ship.
