The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Heat sink to Heat sink. I have L shaped extrusions around the edge of my chassis to secure top and bottom panels. I was going to mount a piece of 6mm aluminum and screw it to these extrusions.

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Thanks, Re Chassis for T2, was thinking of putting the transformers on a bracket so access to the bottom of chassis for service would be easier. Worried I would then lose heat sinking offered by the large bottom cover. Good or bad idea?. I know the p/s gives little trouble. Birgir Your Front Panels look really swish. I presume they are Silk Screened?. Are they done commercially and if so what do you pay for say the front of your KGSSHV. Les

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Guys, Tubes for this beast. Thoughts on JJ El34 and new Mullards(Russian). Thinking of buying from Thetubestore. Really like XF2 but finances a bit stretched presently. Don't want to buy something that will do this amp an injustice. All comments appreciated. Thanks Les

digital attenuator
Anyone have used the KG Digital Att with Pot/Vol/Bal controls for an amp. If so how did it work out. What did you use for controls. Want to do it but was interested if there were any snags found. Thanks Les

Yeah, just wish the new breed of commercial assemblers had been taught this. Bloody pain when I had to fix their cockups.

Thanks Kerry, My brain seems slow now, using the same pot/encoder definitely the cleaner answer. Ill have to try and do a little programming. Only touched on Arduino code a wee while ago so will have to get up to speed. Lest I make work with just volume and then redo code later for balance. Regards Les

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
I am adding KG's digital attenuator to my K2 build. Undecided on adding a Balance control. Good idea or not really necessary ?. If so suggestions on Dual Concentric or two separate pots. Dual Concentric then raise the question of suitable knobs. Any comments appreciated. Thanks Les

The Headcase Stax thread
Have two questions re Stax Headphones; 1. Do the drivers degrade with age?. 2. How can one produce the Stax Fart that people talk about on the Mk2 007's?. I want to go into a local dealer and have a listen to a pair of 7's and 9;s. Just in case I get impatient while waiting for an early 007 to appear. Thanks Les

Yes the 9pin ones I got fit the board ok. I was just wondering if they were that much inferior. Les

Is there significant advantage using Teflon Sockets over the Ceramic ones. Supplier shipped me 9 pin ceramics instead of Teflon. Is it worth exchanging them. Thanks Les

Thanks Justin, Really helped seeing yours. Came across plenty on ebay but to reset them you needed a gauge. Anyway I did see a few but unfortunately a lot wont ship International. So will just wait till I find one that will. Les

Hi, What is the general consensus for the torque value for the To220 and To126. Any good links to Torque adjustable drivers that a single one will handle. Les

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
I am about ready to do some chassis work. Wondering about the L bracket for the transistors. Kevin used 3mm on his and I see LIL Knight is going to use 4mm. Is there any real advantage in using 4. Just checking before purchasing material. Thanks Les

Thanks Kevin, just wondering which way to go. Either heatsinkusa with horizontal or locally with two joined for vertical.
