  1. I have a watch winder, a wolf, I also don't use it. I like seeing my watches in their box. I take out mine wind them then set time / date when I switch at the beginning of the week. If I had a delicate annual or perpetual calendar from a top brand patek/lange/VC I would stick that on the winder out of necessity. In that vien, I love that new perpetual calendar from VC. Tragically my wife doesn't love me enough to let me buy it. Edit :: wearing this giant blue and orange thing has been oddly satisfying
  2. Other than the colors the Rolex and Lang look quite different imo. The shape of the cellini is a more elegant take on the standard non super case oyster and the saxonia cannot be mistaken for anything else.
  3. The cartiers clasps are nice, I like them a lot. And their bracelets are super impressive. The tolerances on the new santos bracelet are unreal, add to that the link system, quick release and I think it has a micro adjust. Super impressive.
  4. Yea the factory strap for my PAM has a butterfly deployment, those are the best to get on and off and comfort is very good. This omega is a single folding, but because the extra strap is tucked under the clasp none of the folding clasp its self ever touches my wrist. Also the dual finish(satin and polished) on the ceramic clasp is a nice touch. The curve of the clasp matching the curve of your wrist is important but a roll of the dice from brand to brand.
  5. My issues with pin buckles are three : 1: I like the security of putting on and taking off a watch with a deployment 2: I find the action of the deployment faster 3: I am far to stupid to remember which hole is the correct one, seriously is fuck this up all the time and have to adjust after about 20 minutes.
  6. Its a fun watch especially for the summer. The blue can look quite different depending on the lighting. It goes from a deep navy to a rich royal blue. The rubber strap is also supper comfortable and perfect for hot weather; I love that you can wear rubber straps relatively loose and the watch wont move because the rubber grabs your skin. I also think they did the GMT function well on this particular watch with the inner chapter ring, that way you still keep a functional dive bezel. The numerals, indices, Omega txt, Omega logo and 'GMT' are all applied not printed. And something that other manufacturers are finally picking up on: a dial colored date wheel. This watch does highlight one issue I have with my 2018 Seamaster diver 300m.. I have the bracelet and a factory NATO for the 300m, but I would love to have a rubber strap for it too. However unlike the factory Planet Ocean rubber strap which has a wonderful titanium and ceramic deployment, the diver 300m factory rubber strap is a pin buckle. At this price point the Diver 300m should also have a deployment.
  7. Thats funny. Lighting can do strange things.
  8. Speaking of thick watches.. Had my pam out at the water park with my kids on Wednesday. Love the 10 dollar silicone strap i got off amazon for it. And even though it's been here for a month I haven't been able to wear my planet ocean big blue because it's a birthday present from the wife. But my birthdays this Monday, so i get it today so I can wear it for dinner with her tonight.
  9. I have gotten to play with them but I do not own one. They have a really nice feel to them. The movement in them is quite nice PR and antimagnetic. The clasp is also very nice. They overall are thicker and feel more substantial on the wrist compared to a sub. But finish IMO is a noticeable step down from rolex.
  10. I mean it might come back running really tight like that, but they aren't going to tell you they are going up adjust it to anything other than spec.
  11. Keep in mind if you go with a bronze watch, you may not have to worry about scratches because of the extent that bronze oxidizes, but it's a soft metal vs steel or grade 5 titanium and care must be taken. I think as a collection of 1, a driver of some type is a good choice.. or at least a watch with decent water resistance. Even if it will never go swimming. It is nice to never have to worry about it getting wet. Edit: in the current collection the mkii speedy is really over looked. It's non round so I get it, but it's automatic, coaxial and 100m water resistant. I like the look a lot but it's not for everyone.
  12. Idk if the new Pepsi will eventually grow on me, but the bezel color just isn't right to me. The aluminum one just looks more 'real' somehow.
  13. If accuracy is a very high priority maybe have a look at GS and their spring drive? The attention to detail from GS is top notch. They have their own style too, definitely a different flavor than the swiss.
  14. I also love that the moon watch family of speed masters have no date. And they will never visually look out of date either. Pull out, wind, set time and go. No wondering if I'm at the top or bottom of the day and spinning it through midnight/noon to check before then finding the quick set position and cycling the date. I'm a bit upset they added a date to the mkii for the new model in 2014, but i want it anyway. At least you only notice it if you're looking for it.
  15. A talented watch maker can adjust almost any base caliber into a very accurate state. Many companies in house calibers are inferior to off the shelf ETA or lemania movements. The 321 that went to the moon is lemania if i am not mistaken. Oh and I think all of the holy trinity brands have used lemania movements until relatively recently or up to this day. I find the way Rolex went "in house" hilarious. They just went and slowly moved aegler from independent to making movements exclusively for Rolex, then finally to fully acquiring the company. How are they any different than what they were doing before? Fuck the movement in any sub today is exactly the same the off the shelf one they were buying from alger starting in the 80s(minus the new hair spring). Same goes for most of swatch "in house" its really just ETA doing to the work(probably a good thing). Some exceptions obviously. Don't get caught up in that BS.
  16. I have yet to drop one. Although my daughters have grabbed my DSSD, which I sold, and dropped that from about 4ft on to tile. Honestly in that equation I feared more for my tile, which luckily didn't crack or chip. I lift a lot of weight compared to most, there is no way I could have a watch on my wrist. It would restrict range of motion on my wrist and often get bumped by dumb bells and other things. I while I do not wear my watch not tight(I have it properly fitted) but when my forearms get a pump having it on would be painful even if the other problems were not there I run out of on the fly extension when I travel to humid locations.
  17. Most people at the gym I go to know me and that includes every employee and the owner is a friend of my father. It is extremely unlikely someone would cut my lock. Beyond that the vast majority of people wouldn't know what's in my locker if I took it off in front of them. You also can't lift seriously with a watch around your wrist, you will eventually end up hurting yourself and marking up the watch. I wouldn't even wear it on leg day, same issues because you use your arms to hold weight, stabilize and in other caseshold yourself on machines.
  18. I do the knee thing. At home while leaning back on my couch it's all good, but I'm at the gym a lot and sitting on a narrow bench in the locker room with hard tile flooring, I am not a fan. But my pam with an ETA movement is my only pin buckle watch. I really love the cheapo silicone strap I found on Amazon for it, but I might upgrade that soon. The factory alligator pam strap is a deployment, but not water or blood friendly.
  19. Looks like a nice pickup. I get nervous with anything on a pin buckle. I always feel like I'm going up drop it putting it on.
  20. Thats funny. I say Chicago but realistically I grew up in the suburbs, Palatine specifically in the neighborhood of Plum Grove Estates. So Algonquin Rd and Meacham Rd. Nice house at the end of a street on a bit of land, on the Salt Creek
  21. So I got my birthday present from the wife today.. or I guess I should say it arrived. I don't get to wear it until the actual day a month from today. I wanted something fun for the water park, beach and boating this summer. I'm also originally from Chicago so bears colors as a bonus. She is at work so a quick fitting, pic and into the safe with it for now.
  22. I got the try on the new Santos. That bracelet feels amazing. The blue dial is black in some light, it's a really nice effect. The skeleton one is super cool looking but the premium is too much imo.
  23. That's probably the newest and most desired variant. All non GV have been discontinued. My local AD had a Z blue a few weeks ago. Haven't been back though.
  24. Oh yeah, and if you want a patek sports watch fuck off! not even ladies gold With diamonds.
  25. Rolex situation in Las Vegas For SS sports I found. The 39mm OP all dial colors, just depends on the location. Almost all had red grape.. must not be a well liked variant. A yachmaster 1 with the Platinum bezel and blue dial. A yachmaster 2. An airking Zero TT subs, skydweller or gmt. One root beer sold gold gmt otherwise no gold gmt. Solid gold subs back in stock multiple locations. I think I got to all the locations, either way a large sample size. Many places cases were mostly empty. But hey if you want a mid size date just with gold and diamonds your all set.. I did at least get to play with something I thought I'd never see
