  1. Hublot deservedly gets a lot of flack, but they do some cool things, especially with materials. Their magic gold for instance is really impressive in concept and in your hands. The model like from them most is the "spirit of big bang". It's obviously their interpretation of a tonneau Richard mill, but I like their take on that. The fact that it is powered be the El primero doesn't hurt. One of those in magic gold is on my short list. I would add a red leather/rubber strap from them to go with the stock.
  2. The train might be slightly less awkward to wear than some AP offshores(survivor) or hublots(La Ferrari). I endorse this new path you are taking!
  3. My initial impressions of the pictures of the new Lange sports watch were not great, while the dial is excellent, I'm OK with the dressy bracelet because it fits the brand and even the non integration of the bracelet because that has been done to death recently. But the case with the pushers sticking out on one side looked awkward, like a nautilus with an ear chopped off. However in the video link below those pushers seem much less pronounced. At many angles I don't even notice them. I can't wait to see this in person! I've gotten to try many Lange watches and hope to one day have my own lange.
  4. I expect I'll be looking for things to time when I have my chrono. The crispness of the actuation is something I'm anxiously awaiting at my finger tips.
  5. I fully understand and take no offense. I've never done well expressing my self in written English. It always loses nuance.
  6. Unlikely, my last resort is always jewelry. Don't feel bad for her, like I'm spending money she wouldn't. I have one vice, watches, she might complain a bit but she is an enabler since 50% of my collection are gifts from her. Oh and I'm pretty so I have that going for me..
  7. She is also Italian so I have catholic guilt to work with if somehow this strategy fails.
  8. Doing my best to plant the seeds with the wife. Started out by looking at a VC chrono next the wife. She says "what another watch?! You just got one a few months ago!". My retort "it's got a pulsation scale so it's a business expense right?". Then I go on to say it's way to expensive for me, she asks what I was thinking of for my next one, I tell her the seamaster bull head. I shift my eyes over with out moving my head and she has moved from FB and is typing that into a note. The question is when she gets me this for Xmas do I tell my AD not to cash the check or do I tell him to keep it as credit for me..
  9. Oh and the rubberized leather feels amazing, super happy with the stock strap. It also has omegas deployant which is on my planet ocean so extra strap is hidden.
  10. I don't work regular hours and I work less than 20 total hours a week. Most of the time it's closer to 10. If I did normal office type hours that strategy would be ok, but I wouldn't get the wear it much and it would be easy to screw up. This isn't a big town either and my wife is in the same industry, so probably not worth the risk either way. I'll wait.
  11. Well I decided to pull the trigger on the omega seamaster bullhead. It arrived today at my local AD. It will live there for some time.. I need to build up some more good will with the wife before bringing it home. I am supposed to buy one watch a year, this would put me at 3 watches in 13 months. The core of my collection is now complete as I really wanted a chrono but did not have one. Stock photo of the variant I got, will do wrist shot when I can pick it up. Hoping to bring it home before the end of the year.
  12. That's cool, so it's a trend setter for those that would follow in the next decade? To me it has the cushion shape and the lugs integrate the strap into the watch. Design ideas that would take off in the following decade.
  13. Very expressive of 1970 case design. I approve! Edit :: I don't mean to imply that it's a re-release, reproduction or tribute. Rather than the real deal.
  14. I have one again tried to get by with a video card on air.. But I hate dust busters, so had to order a water block and throw together a loop with what I had around. The sound of silence!
  15. I left my new omega book on my wife's desk at her clinic with a note. This is the response I got later.
  16. I have never loved the name of that series "the value proposition". I wish they would drop that name and just present the watches as a normal review. That MB has a nice use of textures and colors on the face.
  17. The new 50th speed master sets take over the top to a new level! I just like the experience at the beginning. My retail boxes also end up stored in the bottom of my safe, I have a a very large safe so I have more storage than my means will allow me to fill. In volume these boxes are super cheap to make, so I just feel like they are being lazy. I would also not hesitate to call out any other brand I have experience with that did the same. It's just in my small collection the rolex box sticks out.
  18. Well the new rig is as complete as it can be until the 3950x shows up(3600x for now, I'll move it into an office rig). All in a lian li dedk case. In the desk there is a power strip and a usbc desktop hub for my laptop to plug into so I can use my monitor kb, mouse etc with the same peripherals as my desktop. Only cables from the desk are ethernet and one power. I could cut that to just power but I lik weird net. Also I really like the height adjust, I work standing a lot. Super easy to build in.
  19. Current generation rolex could step up the whole box, included cards, books etc. Especially on their higher end models. The boxes and things may get larger but the quality of the materials printing etc is just unimpressive compared to what other brands offer.
  20. Cant you just cap and isolate the lines through the offending area then reroute with new lines? I have done this before. The new pex stuff is super easy compared to even no solder copper let alone galvanized BTW.
  21. I really like mine, it was a gift from the wife. TT yellow gold with blue ceramic on the bracelet. My buddy got it right when they came in stock like I did, but he wanted SS black which our AD didn't have the bracelet version of thus he had to order it separately. The bracelet adds a lot of character to the watch imo. The micro adjust is also quite nice to have. My other omega was also a gift from the wife, the planet ocean big blue. Of the two the 300m is miles more wearable. The lugs are also pretty short so I feel that it wears closer to a 40 than a 42. It wears better than my 40mm Panerai luminor, the 300m actually feels smaller because the way it sits on the wrist. The planet ocean is a monolith and feels every bit it's size on the wrist Lol. The first comment I get from people when they hold it is "wow this is really heavy" that's not typical of a ceramic watch! It is more comfortable than my old rolex dssd. It hugs my wrist more so I don't hit it on things like I did with the dssd.
  22. Ok Omega is 300 more on the 300m on initial purchase to get the bracelet but it cost my buddy 800 to get the bracelet after the fact. I was quoted 150 for the rubber strap if I remember correctly. I didn't do it because it's a pin buckle. I'm holding out hope on a deployant for the 300m. I did buy a nato from omega for my 300m but got the life of me I can't remember what I paid.
  23. Hemi what's the difference in price between the bracelet and strap. If you buy the watch with it VS trying to source the other after the fact? Most brands rake you over the coals to get the bracelet after the fact.. At least that is my understanding, my experience is only with omega and technically not me but a friend who is a huge omega collector(20+ omegas).
  24. They appear to have a decent case maker and the movement is from a good maker but that's some serious cash to spend on a relatively unknown brand that is likely impossible to resell if you ever wanted too.. Sinn makes many watches that sell for around the same price. If I wanted a German watch for that price I would be shopping sinn.
  25. Been looking at the seamaster bullhead recently. The silver dial is really nice imo. Probably need to wait until Xmas though. It's either that or the tt speedy mkii. I don't have a chrono in my collection atm. Not that I time anything regularly, the only use my dive bezels get is when I need to time circ arrest cases. Actually did that on Saturday for the first time in a month.
