From my perspective the output stage seems to make far more difference that the dac chip. I havent heard any dac or player, regardless of the dac chip, sound anything less than excellent with a zap filter output stage. Bottom line .... even the older 20 bit PCM63s plus whatever discrete output stage is in my Monarchy 33 and 22C dacs crushes the Buffalo/ IVY.
Just goes to show different strokes for different folks. I didn't like the Zap filter with the TPA Opus compared to it running with a output stage or to the BALSIE.

Holly transformer batman! What size is that? If you need any help shoot me a PM. I just happen to know some of the tricks to blow it up

It's a gift at half the price.

Nice selection, Naaman. How was it?Yeah, did you try the Saintsbury?
I hit up most of the beer but only grape product I made it to was the port. I'll let you know when I make it to the others in the what are you drinking thread.

Kick ass. I hope your going to be rockin' it in the pit. I know Sevendust is coming here in a couple weeks. If there are with BLS I am definitely going.

I was going to suggest bouncing it off the floor a couple of times. Good thing he got to you first.

Good call. I usually try to keep
a Sandman or Fonseca in the house. Always up
for trying something different.

apparently underestimated demand on that one!
Par for the course.

Got one.

Sold out in less than two minutes.

According to Silvercore "the price is unimportant" is listed as a feature.

OK. We have a deal. A pixied-out DAC is comming my way!
screw maxing..
In actuality I'm going to have a Weiss DAC2 sent my way after the guy at Vintage King said it was as good as the DAC1/Prism/Lavry Gold for a lot less money.
$3K is less?

Jeebus that a lot of rum.... I'll see what I can do.
Special stuff I want:
- DSD input through HDMI
- Pixie Dust
I also think you have a better chance of getting #2.
- DSD input through HDMI
-
I have scotch ....
That works also.
none... how much rum would do the trick?I guess it would be proportional to how complicated you want it. At least a pirate schooner full
-
I'm pretty interested... how much?
How much beer to do you have?

Looks like they have a Holstein calf in the house.

I sum it up as they sound more the same than different when used within their capabilities. At least enough that you can't tell the difference every time.

Yeah, I know my audio memory is crap and completely unreliable from one minute to the next and I know most others are the same if truth be told which is why I find so many claims in audio gear utterly unreliable to downright unbelievable.

You are also constrained to a small area and habitats. As a motorcyclist, that would bother me. I get to see everything from coast to desert to riparian to alpine, etc. on a day ride. As much as I love visiting the tropics, living there full time is not an option for me. I lived on Guam when I was 13-14 , so I have experience at this.
That is the one thing that I like about the Big Island. It has all of the above.

Yet I was one of those that you inspired to write their own reviews. It's your fault I do them, so now GPH can be mad at you too.
I think that ASR was/is lumped into that same review category as you and the other "reviewers". But I don't think either of you was ever/are considered a shill. At least I don't.
I think the problem I have with most of the in-depth reviews is that I really don't believe any ones hearing is really as good as they claim it to be. I agree with GPH in the fact that your memory or how you perceive the sound on any given day has a greater effect than any burn-in or percived differences. Even what position the volume knob is at has a larger effect.

I would have to say either Southern Cali or the Big Island Hawaii. I have lived and visited just about everywhere in the country. I like Southern Cali because there is just some much going on there. Between the different cities, beaches, and mountains there is an endless list of activities to do.
As for Hawaii I just really like it. Laid back with lots of water activities. But depending on what part of the island you live on it can make Seattle look like the desert.

Well I am definitely ordering one. I haven't built anything in a long, long, long, ......, long time so I may be getting in contact after I have it in hand.
No problem. The hardest part is probably soldering up the power supplies and drilling holes.
