Coffeegeeks is the Head-Fi, and Home Barista is the Head-Case. (Beware. You're as apt to be talked into spending a Stax-sized budget over there as over here.)
In terms of info quality or average budget? I assume both, but you never really know... a lot of folks are simply rich and not knowledgeable.

OK, I never did find one of those Emotivas... I saw like one on the gon, but the dude didn't reply. Anyways, I got an Adcom GFA-555II locally: 325W into 4 Ohms... could probably do worse for the price I guess.

Forgot to mention:
I made an effort to A/B a regular Double Double to a cheeseless Double Meat. The cheeseless had more beef flavor, but it was also ultimately a bit dry. The cheese, while it brings little flavor to the party, brings plenty of texture and fatty creaminess. I'd say I prefer WITH cheese, but if the burgers were cooked to medium rare, I may change my mind.

I enjoyed the HE5. I expected it to be decent, but it was better than expectations. The rigs attached to them weren't exactly budget rigs, though...

Upgrading DF1700 to DF1704 seems OK, but going PMD100 to DF1704 seems a bit pointless to me. I guess if one had a large collection of well-recorded hi-rez that's better than equivalent redbook albums...

Because if it's too short, I'd rather just have an extension cable.
Edit: actually, recabling a too-long cable makes even less sense, now that I think about it.
