I own a pair of Transcendent Sound Beasts and would like to power the H2+ with them. Will this work well without the TR2? Thanks in advance to anyone who might know.

To be honest when I borrowed the H2 I thought they sounded dreadful with any power amp behind them (through the transformer box), ranging from 300B SET to Classe 100 watts A/B.

I don't think they can be driven directly off an amp unless you have something like the amp KG designed for them.

Yup, they need more current than esl's but less voltage so a special amp is needed. The Krell MRA might also work in a pinch too...

Thanks for the help guys. I ordered the Elekit kit and am going to try to build that amp and do the remodel for the H2+.

Schematic was posted in the headfi stax thread a while ago. They aren't exactly electrostat or dynamic levels of popular, so you will probably have to take your own initiative to get the ball rolling on it.

Ok. So I ordered the Elekit TU-879S kit. I haven't ordered the parts to do the remodel. First I am going to build the kit per the included instructions. Then I will tackle the remodel. Once under way, I will start a new thread to document the process.

Interested, as I have a Taket T2, and expect this to be an improvement on the transformer box.

I actually do not own the TR2. And I have to admit that I don't own an H2+ yet either. It will take longer this way, but it forces me to build an amp. Not to mention that it is cheaper. The downside is that I won't be able to do an a-b with the TR2. Maybe someone around Chicago will want to get together and have a mini meet so that we can see if the Elekit is a good way to go. In any case, I am in possession of the Elekit TU-879S.

Since the Taket manufacturers have the mod on their website, I think it would be a given that the amp is better than the transformer box.
