The last time she was turning up a bunch in the "What Are You Listening To Now" thread I tried both Call Off The Search and Piece By Piece and felt very meh about her. It was pleasant enough but she didn't leave much of an impression and I'm pretty sure I never revisited either album after one listen. :shrug:

I just finished Pictures, and while I'm sure there's a way I could feel more meh about her, I'm having trouble imagining how. So do what you must

I think Katie has a fantastic voice that is ultimately, totally and completely let down by tragically lame accompanying music. I really enjoy vocal centric music (Joanna Newsom, Rachael Yamagata, Jenny Owen Youngs, etc, etc.) but the music on Pictures is bad to the point of distraction for me.

I just did a quick survey of my Top 50 artists on Last.fm...

• 32 artists consist of entirely female vocals
  
• 8 artists have male and female vocals
  
• 10 artists consist of entirely male vocals

So everything poinsts to me liking her, including the fact that I like other female vocalists in that style. So I'll be honest, I was pretty disappointed when I realized she's just not for me.

Having said that, I do like other women who sing jazz/pop/vocal standards. For whatever reason, and despite her having a great voice and being very alluring with an interesting backstory, her three albums have done little to nothing for me.
