Dusty Chalk Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Been unhappy with the hd600s for while, going to try a few cables (Yes I know cables won't miraculously completely change the headphone's signature-- but some still say the cables are needed to help them shine) .Actually, I am of the opinion that in the HD600's case, cable upgrade is practically required. It's that dramatic.

A cable upgrade does change things, but it's lower on the priority ladder than adequate amp and source. Currently using my foobar+m-audio transit (TOSlink)--> Presonus Central Station. Then the balanced outs of the Central Station to the hd600, via hd650 stock cable in balanced mode. Bought a Cardas SE cable, to try with the CS headphone out, and the gilmore lite w/ DPS out.
