Battery version of RA1 but with AC adapter?

I will soon have an RA1 for my RS1. It will be a pain to switch batteries every now and then though.

I would like an AC adapter with 9V connectors to supply the unit with power.

1. What do I need to look for in that AC adapter?

2. Would 9V be enough? Since the RA1 uses two 9V batteries, would I have to use one 18V adapter? I think the batteries are in parallell in the RA1 but I'm not sure. If they are would 9V be enough?

3. Is it okey to split the adapter output cable into two 9V connectors, or would I have to have two AC adaptors?

4. How much mAh does it have to have to be enough for the RA1?

5. I read somewhere that it have to be regulated, is that true?

6. Is this a good plan, or will a low cost AC adapter make the sound very bad?

7. If the answer to 6 is "yes", what could I possibly do to be able to not have to use battery power? Is there a simple DIY AC adapter which I could build for this purpose?

You need 18V; more importantly, you actually need +/- 9V. The batteries in an RA-1 are in series; the connection between the batteries forms the ground.

And speaking of RA-1, be careful with the battery connector as it breaks fairly easily in my experience.

Thanks for all the answers. Maybe it should be much easier to use two 9V regulated AC adapters instead of one 18V. A regulated 9V isn't very expensive either.

Hence why I'm asking in advance. I want to get it right so nothing bad happens.

If everything else fails, I will fall back to rechargables. The cost for good recharchable and and a good charger is higher than for two 9V regulated AC adapters. I do not know if what the soundquality will be when using good rechargables versus cheap AC adapters though.

8. Is using two regulated 9V AC adapters the best/easiest/cheapest/safest way to achieve what I want?

A single 18V adapter will not work. For practical reasons (see so many "fail" reasons), two 9V adapters will not work either, unless they are floating (the - not tied to ground). You would have to tie the + of one adapter to the - of the other and take the ground at this point... if the adapters are tied to ground, they are not going to like this...

See above, but IMHO no. Also, you would want linear regulated AC-DC adapters, so their price is higher that what you are probably looking at.
