Anyone have an idea where I can get the AD2000 at the "best" price. The average I have seen it retailing for is $700 but some of the older threads refer to the cost being closer to $500 a few years ago. thanks..dB

Probably the weakening of the US dollar. I used to be able to pick up Aurum Cantus speakers for cheap, and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't.

The AD2K was indeed originally about $500 but then inflation happened, followed by the economic recession.

IIRC they were around $450 on pricejapan around 2 years ago. Back then the exchange rate was around 133. It's around 100 now.

I'm not interested in the AD2000, but I kinda regret not buying an SR-007 + SRM-717 combo back then.

It's okay, I'm guilty of also trying to purchase more dynamics. I hope they will be used to just serve as a reminder of how superior planars are.

If you do get an AD2000 let us know how it is compared with your orthos. I've always been curious about both it and the W5000, but both are way more than I want to spend on a pair of headphones at this point. I was already stretching it with my electrostatic Floats.
