I'm considering buying the akg k242's. Does anyone own or tried these cans and if so, what did you think?

They retail for $279, any other brands in the $250-$300 price range that are better?

Like manaox, I also have no idea what those sound like, but I would have to think you can do better. Used Senn HD650 for starters. But, yes, Stax is the correct answer.

I dunno. If you only have $250 to spend, I think maybe winning JH13s in a raffle is the answer.
