    Audeze LCD-2

The stock cable of LCD-2 is a POS. My $15 DIY cable betters it both in terms of SQ & ergonomics. My only real complaint from LCD-2 though , and this too was easily fixable.
  2. I have question for fellow orthoheads who have had the opportunity to listen/own LCD-2 : What is your opinion of damping on these ? Just right, slightly over-damped or under-damped ?
  3. A friend of mine has bought the LCD-2 & it should be here by next month. It would be interesting to compare the the mylar NAD (slightly modded) to LCD-2.
  4. The mylar version IME has a decent balance stock though it is still on the warmer side & the highs are indeed a bit rolled off ( nothing as bad as the kapton version you guys are describing though). I have been using mine with SRX-3 & now W11 pads which give it a treble boost. The bass is very good on these, no flab at all & extends very low. They indeed sound good enough to me that I haven't been tempted to upgrade from these.
  5. ^ yep, its one of the few which sound really decent stock.

    Audeze LCD-2

heard that the Audeze are trying to clear the backlog by the end of this month.
  10. I totally agree. Its a good starting setup though, can drive any low/impedance headphone & is pretty good with my orthos too. For the price, I would be hard pressed to find something better.
  11. I preferred the HD600 to HD650. The 650 has no bass texture, just one big mid bass hump.
  12. The HD600 are actually driven pretty nicely by the Xonar ST/X. The TPA6120 chip inside is pretty decent.
  13. I have tried the minimalist player & compared it to foobar. Initially I thought that the minimalist player sounded better, but later I realized that I was using replaygain on foobar & at the same volume foobar was outputting about 6dB lower output. On disabling replaygain I was not able to discern any difference.
