  1. Thanks guys. And you're absolutely right, CanJam is the perfect place to start. Nate, I would love to build, but it still just isn't feasible with the little guy around these days. I am also frustrated by my lack of casework skills. John, I forgot to mention that the Zana was among those in which I am very interested. I spent some time with it (yours?) briefly at one of the NYC meets last year (I think it was near Tom's setup?).

  2. My gear is in my sig. I am very happy with it, and should probably just leave it at that. But that's no fun. So I could use some help focusing on what my next amp will be. This purchase likely is well in the future, but I'd like to start the search now. My first thoughts are either a balanced b22 or something real tubey since I don't have much experience with tube amps. I guess the sound sig I am after would be on the warmer side. Budget needs to be south of 2K. Any thoughts?

  3. spun looks good. amazon can be a bit tedious for selling stuff, in my experience, if you have a lot to sell. the same with eBay.

Yeah, so far Spun is looking good. Amazon is a bit of a pain. But Spun seems to be more demanding in terms of CD condition. Also, I wish Spun would let you add by ISBN.

Edit: Oops, found the UPC option under bulk sales.

  4. Is there an easy-to-use, reputable service/store to sell CDs to over the internets? I am looking for something that makes the process very simple, which is why I am not currently contemplating the forums.

    I welcome your suggestions.

  5. I do not understand why anyone would buy a Tomahawk. Hornet, sure, it's a decent enough little piece but the T just doesn't make any sense to me.

I fell for it. The hype machine did a number on me and I bought one. I remember being amazed by how small it was. I also was very much into portables at the time. So I think I was basically listening to the form factor. ::) But after balancing my cans and spending time with some much better (albeit bigger) amps, the Tomahawk sat in a drawer. I sold it a few weeks ago for my initial purchase price. To me, the bottom line is that Ray hypes his gear very well, and the fanboys (of which I guess I was at least a partial one) fan the flames to inferno level.

I think the main lessons I learned from that purchase are to actually do some due diligence about the circuit, go to more meets, and only read reviews by ears I trust.

  6. If one believes in burn in, isn't the only proper way to validate such performance differences is to conduct a controlled comparison between the burnt in model and a brand new one--thereby at least attempting to control for the psychoacoustic effects?
