  1. ebay is your friend for stuff like this. get a 100mhz scope to go with it. if you have a Tektronix power supply frame already, these are great http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tektronix-FG-502-Plug-In-Function-Generator-Rack-/111110966177?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19debacba1 if you don't have the bias set right, its probably not going to sound right.
  2. better change the opamp to something that can handle that like opa445.
  3. don't know about T1, but sounds great on hd800 and lcd2. this amp does not have as much voltage swing as you might expect for something that runs on +/-21v.
  4. it the source is true balanced with no ground reference then unbalanced output is not going to work with a high impedance pot as that is the only source of ground reference. This amplifier is a true differential amplifier in this mode.
  5. are you using a se input or a balanced input? last time I checked, it was supposed to work all 4 ways.
  6. fixed silkscreen http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/ksa5psorig.zip
  7. original version was cascading zeners. which is not really fully regulated, but has been evaluated to be ultra quiet, noise levels in the 50's of nanovolts. the second version is fully regulated, but may or may not be as quiet. krell produced both versions. the first version with lower voltage zeners is suitable for the squarewave. the second version you would have to change 2 resistors.
  8. yes that is black and white ebony. amboyna burl incoming red mallee pic posted in kgsshv thread
  9. zebrawood is something different. https://www.cookwoods.com/lumber-site/shop/category/wood-by-species/
  10. the squarewave boards are single channel. you need 2 for stereo, 4 for balanced
  11. actually I was thinking the singlepower klone.
  12. Typically those things are at least 500 acoustic milliwatts or more. Very fucking loud.
  13. What's the sensivity? May have the perfect amplifier
  14. The inside piece and the blind alignment and the hole smaller than the 4-40 set screw are loads of fun. Have to indicate everything to .0001 hole in the wood only .045 just barely big enough for the allen key.

  16. introducing the .... KNOB OF BIRGIR http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/knobs4.jpg only my second absolutely perfect ebony knob out of piles of ebony. birgir's birthday present for his ecp L2. and a black and white ebony blank from a very overpriced 3 x 3 x 12 piece of ebony guaranteed no cracks with 2 actual cracks, and which I will be able to make no more than 4 knobs out of.
  17. that he could do himself.
  18. I am going to make a rare appearance at work tomorrow to finish The big guys birthdays present
  19. well if you already start on the floor you have less far to fall when you get knocked on your ass if you make the mistake of touching any of the high voltage wires
  20. shrunk kgsshv power supply board available to anyone that wants them, but lil-knight has them so boards will be available from him.
  21. http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/knobs2.jpg http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/knobs3.jpg finished Arizona desert ironwood knob and Hawaii burl red mallee blank with interesting voids
  22. if its the original version of the power supply board, take out the current limit transistors on the power supply board for both the positive and negative supplies.
  23. Well he did do the Liquid Lightning. More correctly he ripped off the stax srm323 and used mosfets for the output stage. But alex will say that all circuits look the same after a while. I doubt the Liquid Glass is that complicated. Alex calls it a mu gain stage. completely open loop. capacitor coupled to a mosfet output buffer. a single tube with a pair of triodes per channel. no matter how hard you try to match the two tubes you get channel gain differences. I'm sure the liquid gold schematics will show up eventually. People will be in shock and awe of its greatness.
  24. Mikhail did star grounds like that!
