  1. The DAC runs on USB power, and is filtered and regulated extensively. The headphone amp always runs on battery power. The power draw from the USB is 100mA (0.5W)

Thats great news! Oh and I think option 2 would be very useful. The dac section you describe is tops, and taking advantage of it as a great source for desktop amps is probably a key selling point too. Option three seems interesting though. Maybe more info on it? Option one doesn't really concern me because the ae2 was pretty cooperative with the really sensitive superfi5's and I don't see the need to switch to low gain...

  2. shoulda had drew send the cable to someplace with a vidar burn in machine an have that run for like days. like omg. the qables guy has one. maybe drew should get one. maybe ray should build a burn in machine and burn in those special hornet and tomahawk cap in for "800 hours" (yes 400 no longer cuts it) so maybe the return policy would actually be valid. maybe i should get some.

  3. I still yearn for someone to take apart the ipod connector on one of ALO's cables so that I can see how he attaches 12ga wire (or whatever) to a 30ga pin.

Definitely only soldering a couple strands. He bends them at and angle, and uses a whole lot of solder which just melts onto the whole wire.

I guess the noise picked up by the "antenna" and lack of filter is what people describe as "added microdetail." Somethins added.... I bet it ain't from the music ::)

  4. lol wait its the actual program not a tiny plugin lol. Well lastfm just updated right this minute (lol right on time) and it kind of works now. All I have to do if I turn on and off upsampling or change output to digital is restart last.fm and it works from then on. yay.

  5. 9.4.2

It actually works, but thing is, the sampling rate gets confused. If I just use analog out from my sound card it is fine, but if it is upsampled then analog out or just plain digital out to my dac, when last fm launches with foobar, music plays but sticks at 1 second, and no error message comes up.. just stays at one second and locks up.. Its been like this since the last version of foobar and after two last.fm updates, so its probably more my setup's fault than either foobar or last.fm :P
