The PCM58 and 63 are next. I've got some 63-K's so we'll see if they're any better. The output stages on those will be EUVL's designs. Those get a bit more complicated as you need four separate supplies for the output stage. Some are using batteries, I may go that route. We'll see...
For now it sounds really good. I just fired it up and will let it sit running for 7 hours or so and give it a listen

I went with https://gabster.ca/Gabster-TD1/ You need one for stereo, two for balanced. I also have a set of ryanj's board but haven't built it yet
You need -5, +5 , and +15V supplies and some way to feed it a PCM signal. I chose https://iancanada.ca/products/9-i2s-to-pcm-converter-board-v2-0
I fed that board right from my PC with an I2S bridge but any USB to I2S solution should work. You can take it up a notch and build an I2S streamer from that iancanada site. I will go that route once I put together the final config.

The first completed DIY project in 3 years and in my new workshop lives!
It's a battery powered Philips TDA1541A based stereo DAC, About 18 months ago I needed something to kick start me back into DIY after breaking down my old setup and moving to Florida. So I built a 10'x11' room in one of the garage bays and proceeded to slowly unpack. I ran across a few threads about the TDA1541 and became curious. This is what I settled on for the first try. It's on a test board I put together so I could mess with different power supplies and experiment with controlling relays to turn the power on and off.
It's sounds surprisingly good! Very easy to listen to, the vocals are up front and full of details. It's only been running for about an hour so the highs are a little bright but we'll see what happens after a few days. I'm also feeding it an I2S signal from a PCIE to I2S bridge that's running off the switcher in the PC so I'm hoping a better PSU for the bridge will add further improvements. I have what I need for a balanced setup and then two chips paralleled in a balanced config so that along with a display for the Arduino are coming.

No dice on the finished product. The template for the countertop was wrong so it went back. The toe kicks also need to be increased in height a bit as the floor sloped about a half inch too much and you would've seen the white of the base in a few spots. Hopefully Monday.

Here's where it's at now... Toe kick, drawer fronts, doors, and hardware tomorrow. Countertop as well

Yep, it's a complete U shape now with corner cabinets. I never updated the drawing. My son wound up doing it in the CAD software they use for the cabinets. It'll be used to assemble all the DIY electronics and work from during the day. I still have 2.5 garage bays just in case I work on anything that's too big for that room.
The last bit will be to install an A/C drop and vent. Since it's summer in FL the HVAC guys are hoppin it'll probably have to wait until next month but I'll get there. The countertop will be on tomorrow.

BIg update with pics tonight... They're installing the cabinets today!
In the last year it was:
Framed out
Electrical and network were run
insulated, drywalled, and painted
Mini soho network rack installed and all business class devices installed. 2.5G wired and Wi-Fi 6e (3 hardwired ceiling pucks)
My son got a job at a cabinet company of all places so he had them build the cabinets and match them to the ones that are throughout the new house (wife insisted). I can finally start working on projects again after a 2 year hiatus! My first order of business is building a DAC, I sold mine and am down to a chord mojo.

So I want to make a simple box and then add a square hole in to that's 3 mm smaller all the way around. I can't figure how to align those objects, group them and then center the object on the table. Any thoughts?

I managed to change out the garage door opener to a jackshaft model. That bought me 3 feet so the space is now 11 feet by 10 feet. Still haven't framed it though. Trying to get this off the ground this month. I bought a 2013 ZL1 Camaro and went down a rabbit hole for four months getting it to 622 RWHP on E85 (there's more in it but I ran out of fuel pump). Now that I got that where I want it I'll start this room and hopefully start building amps again.

here's a drawing of what I have so far. The framer is going to start at the end of the month. After that I'll have the studs treated with borate. Next will be the electrical and network lines. Initially I was just going to use some off the shelf cabinets from the home depot, but my son works for a cabinet maker so I should be able to get some custom desk height cabinets made so I can have drawers.
Any suggestions on the layout? The countertops will span the cabinets and the knee wall in front of the water heater. I'm thinking of using butcher block

I thought about doing that as well. Mostly just assembling amps and such so soldering, drilling. No wood working or welding. I might add a 3D printer.
I saw some unfinished base cabinets at the homedepot. I might go that route if I can't find anything local or on craigslist.

So I'm turning one of my garage bays into a workshop. I'm able to fit 8' x 10' with a 9' 6" ceiling no problem. I need some ideas on counter surfaces and cabinets. I'd need some storage, an area for a desktop and 4-6 amps, 2 dacs, and a preamp. Lastly an area to work on projects.
Is there an online layout tool that doesn't have a huge learning curve or anyone on here that can do a layout? I'd gladly throw a few bucks their way for some time.

It has much lower max current but also lower Cob. I think you could check if it is suitable for you.

It looks neat, I like it. Still gotta build the Iron Pre kit from diyaudio but what's another preamp. I think I have the transistors too
