  1. I ordered the rest of the stuff -all the passives etc- the other day. The BOM I was working off specified Xicon resistors, I guess this was Kevin Gilmore's BOM. Also, my practice has always been to give parts a little "longer legs" up off the PCB ground plane if voltages are more than, say, 200 V.- unless it's a VHF, UHF or microwave circuit. Insurance. I've got all the parts now except the chassis and the STAX SOCKET. The chassis, I have ideas. But where to get the STAX 5 pin socket?
  2. Ahhhh OK, IXCP10M90S is the correct part number. Yeah I had come across IXCP10M90S and was trying to find a datasheet for IXYS10M90S to see if the two part numbers had the same characteristics. My BOM shows IXYS10M90S, I wonder if there is an updated DIY T2 BOM someplace that I missed seeing. IXYS is the mfg name, I see Getting closer to having all the parts; I have the transformers, most of the silicon, will be ordering the passives tomorrow.....
  3. Where does one find ixys10m90s three terminal current regulators? I need 13 of 'em. I tried all the usual suppliers: mouser, digikey, allied, bdent, Audio Lab Of Georgia, Rich Tech, LittleDiode... even eBay. I'm having problems even finding the data sheet for this part....
  4. Anybody know where I can get ixys10m90s ? (Three terminal current regulators) I need 13 of them. I'm having trouble even finding a datasheet.
  5. How many DIY T2's have been built / are up and running? 8? 12? More? There's a second wave being built now, about 15~18 units.... My PCB's just arrived. This amp board is large, for sure. You get an idea of the scale in this photo. I love it. PS- that's the regulation "small part/small fastener" -pattern industrial carpet on the floor of my workshop that you see there. I've spent may lovely hours sharpening my cursing skills whilst kneeling on that floor looking for an SMD diode or a #2 washer.
  6. My DIY T2 boards arrived safe and sound, my concern about shipping damage was unfounded. MANY THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED!!!! This T2 amp board is silly huge. I love it.
  7. My transistor checker arrived. Measured the 2SK216's from RichTech and they have a breakdown voltage of 229 volts +/- 1 volt. So they SEEM OK.
  8. These arrived from RichTech and look to be genuine- the logo looks like the Hitachi logo I've seen on other parts, and the date code looks sensible. Have to wait until my transistor characteristic checker arrives from China to see for sure if these are the real deal.
  9. FYI the max torque for the PEEK screws is about 21 oz-in or about 1.5 kg-cm.

Pretty nice torque screwdriver for not much money on eBay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/160635907482?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_2315wt_911 Torque setting range: 0.5 to 15.0 Kg-cm ( ~7 to 208 oz-in ) Keep from breaking your PEEK screws or stripping threads in aluminum heatsinks. Seems pretty nicely made. Nice small size.
  11. Their ham gear was OK. For people used to HP, Beckman and Tektronix, the Heath test gear wasn't very impressive. For those whose choice was either Heath, Eico, Knight or nothing at all, it was better than nothing. Some of their old tube amps were OK. As in, they worked and were better than Cal-Rad, etc.
  12. I am always leery of shippers. The McMaster padded envelope will do, I can't see paying $40 for a box from UPS. I know they charge a ton to pack stuff.
  13. Mailing such a large board as the T2 board in an envelope might result in cracked boards. When thrown in a pile of boxes at the post office / shipper, there's a risk of a heavy board being tossed onto the board, cracking it. Maybe a box would be better.

  15. You know guys I am involved in dozens of projects, committees, boards, run 3 businesses.... it isn't like reading head-case and keeping all this straight is all I've got to think about.
  16. Right, and at first I thought the tracking number was the shipment FROM you. But I see now it was the tracking number TO you. Just trying to follow what is going on as this thread jumps around.
  17. Not sure what the tracking number for my boards reveals - CP86 0093 942V N - USPS says "Notice Left" in Bow, New Hampshire. I live in Chicago ..... I guess this tracking is for a shipment of many board to Bow, New Hampshire where someone will split them up and ship them individually? I see on the spreadsheet that quite a few buyers have Tracking # CP86 0093 942V N, so it must be a mass shipment to be divided up and re-shipped....?

  22. The logo looks fake to me. Real Hitachi logos don't look like that. That looks laser-etched, and they didn't get the logo right. Google image search "hitachi transistor" and compare, I don't see any logos that look like that one. I wonder if there is a way to contact Hitachi, you'd think they'd be interested in fighting counterfeits- although maybe at this low level it might be below their radar.
  23. OK, max about ~1.25 in-lbs, then. This is 20 inch ounces, which is what my torque screwdriver is calibrated in. So I'll set it to 18 or so, that should give me a little margin, and still be pretty tight. Many thanks.
  24. What's the max torque for the M3 PEEK screws? Anybody know?
  25. I'd like a KGSSHV board / onboard PSU from your leftovers, when will you be accepting requests for those?
