  1. A shame about the quality of the print. This shot shows off one of the real strengths of large format. All lenses are tilt/shift. NSFW ...and very French.
  2. Is the XDA-1's price now lowered to $200 permanently or does it go back up to $250 after the sale ends? The way I'm reading that ad is that the 10% off coupon (which doesn't apply to the XDA-1) expires on the 18th, but the XDA's $200 price doesn't.
  3. Last night I found out that a woman I've known since second grade died of cancer earlier this year. She was scarcely a month older than myself. She left behind her husband and two young children. I hadn't seen her in years, but I'm pretty saddened by the news.
  4. There's large format, then there's really large format. Taken by some friends of mine a few years ago.

  6. Hopelessly out of season.
  7. Hodor! Contains copious cursing. And stupidity.
  8. First off, I'm about as much of a DIY audio builder as I am a bronze sculptor. Secondly, I recently bought an enclosure from dsavitsk that has some parts in it that were once a DAC. Specifically, it needs a 12AX7 tube and a CS8412 chip. The tube I have already of course. I did some shopping on the 'Bay and found what I believe is the right DAC chip for $6 from a Chinese seller. The rest of the iterations mentioned in this post are strictly for academic purposes. I'm genuinely curious what the differences (if any) are. The version I bought. CS8414CS for $13 The main difference here is that this one can speak hibit (24/96) and purports to have lower jitter. I assume that in order facilitate high bitrate playback, the rest of the digital circuit would have to support it as well? DIR9001 to CS8412 or CS8414 Pro Version Converter Board for $70. This is either serious business or an enabler of audiophilia nervosa. Look, it has capacitors on it! My question is this: What are the realworld differences between these chip iterations? Is there something major I'm missing? Would there be any detectable difference in them when placed in a circuit designed to use a CS8412?
