  4. The film that went south was such a disaster that they made a documentary about how badly it failed. TBH, the documentary is pretty bad itself. Here's a "trailer" for it: If you look closely, you'll see me. I'm not interested in Hollywood, but I have managed to do one film shoot every 3-5 years, and I'm past due. I'm going to meet with the director and learn as much as I can before I commit. I'm less eager to subject myself to the grind of an underfunded film now than when I was 22. Today has been a complete blast, and by that I mean utter clusterfuck. There's something seriously wrong with the plumbing in my kitchen sink. Not the drain, but the spout. As best I can ascertain, the cold water valve is kaput, and stuck in the open position. This means I've had to shut it off downstairs and now don't have cold water in my kitchen. That makes minor tasks like "cooking" and "doing dishes" difficult or impossible. I've put in a call to the plumber I use, and I'm waiting to hear back. This could be an interesting few days.
  5. Man, I had that exact Walkman in high school.
  6. WAT. WAT. Wut?
  7. Going out on a limb here, has any head-caser heard the 2009 remaster of Tattoo You? I grew up listening to the original, yet all I own is a scratchy early-80s vinyl pressing. There was a time when I'd cheerfully buy any remaster, but the Terrible Age of the Brick Wall has cured me of that forever. I'd much rather track down a halfway decent CD pressing (or needledrop) of the original version than suffer through having all the dynamics crush by a modern rework. Anyone out there heard both? Bueller?
  8. Some sound advice.
  9. The 85L doesn't stop down past F/16. It also reaches maximum sharpness well before then, I believe.
  10. I just got offered a job recording sound in a small independent film. This is something I've done twice before. Once it went quite well, and the other time it was a disaster of biblical proportions. I didn't give the producer a definitive "yes" yet. I'm not sure I want to get involved in another indie shoot.

  12. Q: I'm in Egypt and my internet doesn't work. Any advice? A: Try pulling the government out and plugging it back in.
  13. Only in Georgia: Internet-controlled shotguns linked to web cams on food plot What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
  14. As of right now, my radio show is back on the air.
  15. The above is the work of the famed Ivan Chesnokov.
  16. Just got hired to take photos of an underground hip hop show, all last-minute like. It's in my home town, so travel isn't an issue. That said, the two times I have been threatened by paranoid audience members for taking photos were both at hip hop shows. Some day I am going to pen Correia's Law of Perceived Lens Field of View: When the subjects wants to be photographed, every lens is extremely narrow and all subjects won't be in frame unless they're clunking heads and staring down the center of the lens. Conversely, if the subject doesn't wish to be photographed, every lens is a superwide and captures everyone in front of it in-frame and in-focus.
