  1. New OS is fast, but the forum is still slow
  2. In short, wahoo! Smileys work.
  3. Sadly, I couldn't get a decent framerate with Amnesia on my laptop, so I'm playing it's spiritual ancestor, Penumbra: Overture. The first "level" takes place in the northern tip of Greenland, and the first task is "don't freeze to death." Couldn't be more apt.
  4. Bill and Ted's Exterminating Adventure
  5. The 85L only stops down to F/16, and hits its maximum sharpness well before that. I took a few shots with it at F/8, and was floored by the sharpness. Original size, so you can pixel peep your heart out. Generally speaking, any good prime is going to have better optical performance than a good or even great zoom. The 85L is one of the best SLR prime lenses, period. In skilled (and/or patient) hands, it can deliver a great picture of nearly anything that's holding still. If the subject is moving, you'd best look elsewhere.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RLucBPZsbw Holy crapballs, this is the most stream of consciousness version of Bill's Charlie Hodge routine I have ever heard. I think I had a 64kbit mp3 of this back in '99 or so, but I've never seen the video before. Obviously it's NSFW, because it's Bill Fucking Hicks.
  7. This kid doesn't know how good he has it. Conventions are boring and full of nerds. I hope I never end up at one.
  8. ^^ I was being too deadpan WRT Kurosawa, I guess.
  9. Quick View works in FFX popup dialog boxes. Mind = blown.
  10. Relevant. For some reason, this ad campaign never caught on. This guy looks like a hack. Check out the doofy hat.
  11. ...at least that cleaned up that horribly offensive book by that awful Mr. Twain. </sarcasm>
  12. I, for one welcome out new obscene power cable overlords don't want a power cable that might cause me to BREAK A TOE ON IT.
  13. Some shots from New Year's Eve: That one is assembled as a triptych, but I had to resize and post it to Imgur to get an image of the width I wanted. Flickr is a little too clever for its own good sometimes. Click through any of the images (including the one hosted on imgur) to get to the Flickr page and see tags, EXIF, etc. Moar later, probably.
  14. Due to the fact that amount of material that arrives via RSS is vastly greater than the number of posts I can make in a day, I'm going to begin including 3+ images per Slow Post. Slightly Less Slow Forum?
