  1. This is my friend Dave's cat Mauro, who is 24 lbs.
  2. NSFW. Turn down your speakers, this damn thing is loud. Heavy on the 0_o and the WTF. Holy shit watch this: The red band trailer for "A Serbian Film" is the most insane thing ever [i Heart Movies] | I Heart Chaos
  3. The message you have entered is freakin' me out, man. You are freakin' out (((man)))
  4. The message you have entered is too short. Dang, no cheeseburger.
  5. The message you have entered is too short. Please pump it up a bit.
  6. It's impossible to have a discussion about IDM without mentioning the genre's granddaddies, Autechre. Both hugely popular and critically acclaimed, they have grown more and more experimental since their 1991 debut single. Personally, I think they completely lost the plot around 1998. That said, what they did from '93-97 is genius. This is "Bike" from their first album Incunabula. They did better stuff later, but this is a very good introduction to the Ae sound. It's simultaneously sparse and lush, melodic and somewhat dissonant, and possessing a song structure similar to drum n bass(!)
  7. Mac 18 is excellent. I was sorely disappointed by the Cask Strength, however. Dense, leaden, lacking in flavor, and unimproved upon by adding a splash of spring water. Yick. I finished today by dropping a Hafler P125 amp on my bare foot. I am done with audio for the evening. :hoppingaroundononefootemoticon:
  8. Thought for the night: It is never a good idea to decide to move around Yamaha NS-1000s at 1AM after one has been drinking. That said, the Unisounds are now in position. Tonight's critical listening will consist of "do they work?"
  9. Animal cruelty.
  10. Long day of stress and financial ruin. Tomorrow will be the same, only worse. The day after that, I drive across the state and begin building a house. Scotch infusion commences in 3... 2... 1... It's Talisker Time, Goddammit!
  11. "I meant to do that."
  12. I, erm, uh, ouch.
  13. Indeed they are. I still say push your camera to ISO3200 or even 6400 (you're currently using 400 it looks like.) The performance of the D3 at ISO6400 is better than many DSLRs @1600. I'll shut up about this now. I wish I were going to CanJam precisely so I could take pictures of all the equipment. With my camera or any other. From what I've gathered, meets are really not a good venue to get to listen to equipment but man could I get some gear porn. Something stands out about that, I'm not sure what.

  15. Kevin, as a photographer, I humbly suggest you either open up the aperture (two full stops would be good) or crank up the ISO. That latter option is probably better, as the Nikon D3 is the best high ISO performer in the DSLR market, except for the new D3S (which is largely vaporware at this point.) I also think I see a box for a monopod in the background there. [/photo nerd]

  17. I do have collision, with a <mumble> deductible. The insurance agent promises me I will receive a check Real Soon Now. That will cover part of the body work and none of the mechanical repairs, obviously.
  18. The message you have entered is too short. The fake ones defy gravity.
  19. I hit a deer Christmas day, necessitating ~$2500 in body work. Apart from that the car has an oil leak around the head gasket, and a coolant leak around the thermostat. It also needs new front brake pads, and a bunch of other niggling things like a wonky fey fob (or receiver) looked at, a new rear wiper, clips to hold keep the liner to the sodding back hatch from falling down and hitting me in the face every time I open it etc etc. The service rep asked me if I wanted to do all this work, or consider trading it in for a new or "pre pwned" car. The truth is I'd get squat for trade in with the car in its current state, and mechanically it is otherwise sound. I'm really not looking to add a car payment to my monthly expenses, especially as I have more house renovation coming up. The woodshed needs a new roof: That tarp isn't going to last forever.
  20. The message you have entered is one ugly looking...
  21. Found out that the repairs to my Subaru are going to be between $3-6000.
