  1. This is fucking horrifying.
  2. Sexy. I was considering one of those when I was in the market for a balanced Pre in late '08. I ended up going with an AR LS9 for a bunch of reasons (some rational, some financial, some AR-fanboy-based.)
  3. Salty (and anyone else) I got these: 2-PACK Lexar Professional Firewire CompactFlash Reader - eBay (item 380224418443 end time Apr-23-10 19:48:04 PDT) They were $40 for two when I got 'em, they've come down in price.
  4. If you get a rack shelf, you can mount almost anything in a 19" rack. The shelves are vastly overpriced (what, $80 for a bent piece of metal? I'll take three!) but they are invaluable if one is rack mounting a rig. I used three shelves to hold most of the kit in my system. Of course, I pilfered the shelves and the rack from an old broadcast video rig that was being thrown out. A few suggestions: Hardware 1 Space Utility Rack Shelf*-* Rack Shelves Middle Atlantic Products U317 | Sweetwater.com Mid Atlantic 1 Space Utility Rack Shelf*-* Rack Shelves Middle Atlantic RC2 Clamping Rack Shelf | BSWUSA.com Middle Atlantic SS Sliding Rack Shelf | BSWUSA.com Hardware 2 Space Sliding Rack Shelf*-* Rack Shelves There is a mind boggling amount of rack hardware on the market. Nearly every piece of serious pro (audio/video/radio/etc) kit has rack ear or some other type of adapter. I'm sure if you looked hard enough, you'd find an adapter for your cat box and kool-aid dispenser.
  5. FWIW, I have upwards of five card readers. Two FW400 CF readers, two USB umpteen-in-one card readers, and one USB SD card reader (so I can read sodding SDHC cards.) I've purchased two others; one I gave to mum, and one I think my old housemate nicked when he moved out. When I get a new Mac desktop, I'll probably get an FW800 CF reader as well.
  6. Switched gyms. After 9 months at Gold's Gym Leading Edge, with their sucktastic hours, I'm now a member of Planet Fitness, which is 24 hours except for weekends. This switch meant that I actually got a proper workout in for the first time in ages. It was refreshing to concentrate on, you know, actually working out and not watching the damn clock.
  7. That's nobody's personal rig. Clearly it's a demo system from some high-falutin' audio boutique.
