Thanks so much everyone, it's nice to know you're thinking of me! Sorry I haven't been around so much lately!

I'm a fan of Locke. I should check this out.

I'll add two cookies. Good ones. Perhaps homemade.

It's been a long time since I've been in this thread, but I made Modernist Cuisine Caramelized Carrot Soup and Modernist Mac and Cheese to bring to my cousin's Thanksgiving dinner...
Also, we've been doing Blue Apron lately. It's a wonderful time-saver; I get to cook without shopping or having to worry about too many leftovers (there are none). It's nice to get just two stalks of celery when you need them for a recipe instead of buying a bunch then throwing it away later on. And did I mention I don't have to shop?

Also, I'd like to meet Birgir in person before asking for Icelandic baked goods and thousands of dollars worth of electrostatic amplification.

I'll be there, but only to see you Head-Casers.
If prodded, I might even make my world famous chili and have people over to my place for the *real* meet.

Tyll, Do you think it is worth it just to use as a DAC with the DSHA-1? I'm currently using the Pico DAC + DSHA-1 in the office.
I moved my DSHA-1 to the bedroom, and just use the HA-1 in my (home) office now.
It's got a great headphone out--use it!

O.M.G. What a rabbit hole. I tried to write an explanation of the physics of flight except I couldn't find an allowable word for weight. Any suggestions?
"You can make a car fly by having arms longer on top than under. By moving forward the air over the arms goes far and under the arm goes less and becomes thicker. That means the air under pushes hard up as the car goes fast. If the car goes fast enough, the push is bigger than the heavy feel of the car and it flies."
FTFY.

Why the fuck didn't I get to meet Matt? It's fucked up. How can I miss someone I've never met? Fuck.

Ironically, they "upgraded" me from 420 to a 1000, but my plan was to use it to drive IEMs, so I complained. When I got the 420 and listened to it, it was noisy as fuck and so I tried the 1000. Eureka! Even though the volume control is a bit coarse, it's totally silent with JH16s. I uncomplained and sent back the 420.
It's red!
P.S. They gave me a t-shirt that would have totally fit me in 1978.

I'm currently grillless. It's a problem. Must needs fix! But now what: Traeger, BGE/ceramic whateverthefuck, basic Weber, huge gas monstrosity? The existentialists call this "terrible freedom." #firstworldproblems

Yeah, "plenty big" is 100" monitor 3" away from your face.

Too bad I joined this thread too late to tell you to rent the RX1. I know the refurbs are still double what you wanted to spend, but this IS Head-Case...
And I still need to post some pics.
As far as post processing goes, like Ari said, it isn't that big of a deal, and once you've got the basics down, you will take (literally) a minute to make adjustments that take an ok photo into good territory, or take a great photo into the stratosphere.

Fuck, this tournament is giving me multiple fucking heart attacks every fucking day at this point.

I see the title of this thread as 'monomaniacal keyboards.'
And I have one of these on my PC:

I added 0.4mm dampeners on the switches as well, god help me.

^ I've avoided trying one out for the fear I'd want to keep it.
That's why I kept renting it, instead of buying it. But then I bought it, because I kept renting it. So, yeah, don't rent it or try it or look at it or anything, ever.

Biking
in Headphones
Posted
Now that I'm biking more (yay!) I find I need to take the occasional phonecall when I'm enroute.
So I'm asking for headphone advice. Imagine that. I'm mostly looking for something that won't fall out of my ears (I'm talking to you, EarPods), or block all sound (I like to have some situation-awareness around crazy LA drivers). It's fine if they're wired--again, I'm not necessarily looking for amazing fidelity. Do I want Bluetooth?
Thoughts?
